The Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases on Monday (November 25) acquitted Panthongtae Shinawatra, son of former prime minister Thaksin, in an alleged money-laundering case in connection with a controversial Krungthai Bank loan.

The court ruled that the evidence against him lacked weight to prove that he had been aware that the Bt10-million cheque, given to him in 2004 by the then executive at the Krisada Mahanakorn property group, was allegedly part of the Krungthai Bank loan scandal.

The bank’s executives and senior members of the property group were sentenced to prison in August 2015 by the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Persons Holding Political Positions in the case of the illegitimate approval of a Krungthai Bank loan to Krisada Mahanakorn subsidiaries.

Prosecutors had also filed a case with the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases against some of the individuals last year, alleging conspiracy to launder money and collusion of money laundering. This case is still going on and has reached the process of witness inquiry.

This could be true now that Thailand is becoming more under the influence of the Chinese, let's not forget the origin of the Thaksin dynasty .......LOL

It does seem to hint at rehabilitation of the Shinawatra image. The vast majority of Northern rural Thais are firmly in their camp, due to remembered favors when Thaksin and Yingluck were in power.

It just shows you how stupid some super rich people can be.leaving a paper trail to his own bank.its obvious the judge was as bent as he is.

in the uk the his whole bank account and any assets would of been frozen and proof of where the whole lot come from.in the uk if you have over £1,000 or 38,000b and you are searched and can't prove where it came from then it can be confiscated.

thailand must be a soft touch for dirty money.ive deposited and withdrawn millions out of the bank and they don't even bat a eyelid.

the Chinese must be using Thailand like the Russians used Cyprus to off load their ill gotten gains.

anyway he is guilty as f?)( .

Careful, criticising a court decision is a crime here.
