I’ll definitely look into that. I’ve never been to Pattaya or that area. I’ve just heard it’s basically a seedy place and has a bit of a bad reputation.

yes Pattaya for no distractions everywhere you look. :clap2:

I know it was recently asked about life in Udon Thani.

I would look into the towns of Pranburi, Kanchanaburi, and Prachuap Khiri Khan.

I’m trying to stick with one of the major Isaan towns. I was in chum phae before and people stared me down like I was an alien.

Also, can anyone explain why I saw like 12 year old girls with black pornhub t shirts walking around in the markets. Do they just not understand the meaning?

Don't worry about it, we're all considered aliens.
They simply can't read English and think this a brand name

Pattaya is a total dump, Indians, Chinese , sex tourists. Dirty,

low life's staring into the sky 24/7, if you're ever feeling down in the dumps, go to pattaya, walk around, you'll feel like a million bucks in no time. Simply a hell hole.

Sounds like you're missing the place.

Cheer up grumpy

Oh do behave and stop spreading nonsence like this. Did somebody there upset you once. I live 7km outside the town its clean and its great. 15 mins to a great beach along the same coast. Of course Pattaya is full of tourists why do you have to spurt your racist retoric by naming the race. Yes there are some seedy areas but mainly its a fun town where I have great fun every week with my friends and Thai wife.

That’s got a nice ring to it. ????

I think I’ll give it a try. Air Asia has non stop one way tickets for 1,000 in early January. If I don’t like it and there’s not enough young folks a quick bus down to Khon Kaen shouldn’t be a problem. Just sucks transporting all my stuff.

Good luck to you it sounds boring. I dont know how you can say you are young and moving to Udon. You havn't got a job so you are a tourist at the moment living here on borrowed time until you get refused entry. By the way dont listen to the Pattaya haters, they are bitter and probably impotent.

While I have nothing against Udon, for a "young American" I would suggest checking out Khon Kaen or Maha Sarakham where there are large universities with 35-40 thousand students.

Forget KK or Korat a damn Bore, more action in Udon...More Fun and Nong Khai is nice break

It just really depends on YOUR needs, wants and desires.

I lived in Phuket for 10 years and now live in Khon Kaen for 2 years. Big difference-BIG!!

Remember, what one person loves, another person might hate.

Good luck and hope you enjoy whatever you do!

Well did you enjoy ur move to Isaan

Hi,

I'm an old American who lived in Jomtien for many years and has now moved to my farm in Ban Chiang (North of Udon Thani, the bog city 50k South.

Jomtien is quiet and can be too quiet if you move to Na Jomtien...but as someone above said Pattaya can provide relief from the quiet with many activities to keep you busy...it is not seedy but can be rough...you can eat for 2$ or 100$, see a movie and have a place to stay for reasonable price...

Well, if that is actually you in your avatar photo, I can understand why you wouldn't get much action at Khon Kaen University with about 20,000 Thai girls ages 18-25.

OP says he is in his early 20's.

Bangkok is where the teaching money is. It's sprawling but each little area has its own vibe.

If not planning to work I wait, head to north of Pattaya in May.

Issan for me could only be Khon Kaen. It's just too back assward.

Are you ugly or handsome?

If you are coming from Phuket don't bother with Pattaya. Pretty similar a little cheaper but not so beautiful. If you want something different go for Udon.

Go for it, Yank. Udon is my favorite city in Thailand with the nicest people and an easy way of living. If it were seaside I would be there in a New York minute. Lots of farang of all ages. Lots of nice places to hang out and meet people. Enough P4P to satisfy virtually anyone. Less expensive than other major cities; more quiet, prettier. And right now (every Dec. 1 to 15) there is a sensational celebration that draws tens of thousands of people from all over the area. A must do.

Good luck.

The OP should relocate to Pattaya AND Udon. There's a daily, 1-hour non-stop flight between them both so when Udon gets too mundane and parochial, fly to Pattaya for a reality check. When the excesses of Pattaya starts to get on your tits, fly back to Udon... for a reality check.

You don't know what you are talking about, so in your words one can't go to Hamburg,Rotterdam,London either. Just don't go in to the red light districts. There is nice places outside the city.

If you don't like Pattaya you don't have to come here,go back to the place you come from, or has

that place not enough hookers for you and is freezing cold.
