Are ALL Thai Companies Crooks?

Featured Replies

It never ceases to amaze me how shortsighted Thai companies are.

I went into cancel our 3BB internet 3 days after the billing cycle started. They told me they can't give me any refund and that I'd have service for the rest of the month. Thing is, I don't want or need service. I already started True (which by the way is now almost half the price of 3BB for 1 gig internet).

And we cancelled because the service has been undependable lately (we had an outage of almost 24 hours last week).

I go through this with just about every Thai company I deal with, not to mention landloards and others.

I've been here a long time and this is something I will never get used to.

Speaking for the one I work for, no we are not crooks.

Thai companies always think they are more important than the customer.....Which is a VERY oldfashioned way of thinking.

No, many of them just follow standard business rules and laws.

Do you call them "crook" because they followed the letter of the law?

Either you're in to some sort of 'self-punishment' moode or have difficulties adapting to 'new environents.

Monthly billing in advance is standard practice worldwide almost...they didnt do you over.....for a moment I thought it was gonna be about real estate agents or lawyers.....yes in Thailand they are ALL crooks one way or another

Are all farang too dumb to read contracts? :coffee1:

I've changed several apartments, and you always have the pay for the full month. You don't get a break if you move in late or out early. That's why you always see piles of boxes on curbs and loaded up pickups every first of the month.

I presumed you signed a contract which requires one month notice, not 3 days duh !! Don't blame Thailand for your stupidity.

3bb offers 1000/100 for 799 and True isn't 50% cheaper than that.

I doubt any advance notice is required. One simply needs to cancel before the next billing cycle. It's standard practice for every company I have worked for or dealt with.

AIS gave me six months internet on my phone for 600 baht, no complaints.

Says all you need to know

Don't know where the OP is from, but that's how these contracts work in the UK as well.

This will get better with time I believe.

Thais simply have not learned yet that you can make more money by giving into every stupid little demand, like amazon for example.

In a short answer. yes.   the concept of customer service is almost unknown here, as is the training of staff and loyalty to brand and employee.
