I have a Garmin Nuvi 250 GPS, it was purchased in UK and came pre-loaded with UK & European maps

Here in Thailand I use an SD card to get around which I purchased around 8 years ago.

The unit is a handy pocket sized version which has vehicle/pedestrian options, I can easily detach it and put in my pocket for pedstrianised roads, motorcycle  or on foot somewhere!

I have just got an up-dated SD version for Thailand but it will not load, the new version has too much info and will not load.

Is there any way to erase the UK/EU maps and replace with the Thai map in the main memory or just erase the main memory and hope the SD card will operate?

Any info would be welcome!
