Imaging you have free trade for decades and then someone introduces harsh border controls and they call it progress.   Someone should have mentioned that in 2016. How many people would have

  • It wasn't free trade, we had to pay an annual rent for it, didn't you know?   It's reminding Mr Barnier that the EU doesn't get free exports to the UK, something the Germans have gotten us

"A study by Leuven University in Belgium has predicted that the 1.2 million jobs will be lost across Europe in the case of a hard-Brexit. Unsurprisingly, the United Kingdom is expected to be the country that will suffer the most with over 500,000 jobs set to be lost."

It's only a pale consolation to drown others with you.....

The UKs big Cities are boasting strong economies, therefore will find it easier than mainland Europe to absorb such losses, new jobs will be easily created.

The fact of the matter is we cannot possibly accept the EUs red lines, we are supposed to be "Taking back control" not carrying on being controlled, the EU has two choices. Our position is clear, the EUs position is unworkable and unacceptable.

Izod10, I think you are a Troll if such Govt policy exists I am sure you can provide a link to it or maybe you can't because no such policy exists other than in your warped head

..but of course I can...no permission to stay in UK after due date,  too late now,no more applications considered,   only can presume bag packing time up   ,few more bags too, and onto the ferry   bye bye

The way the no right to remain in the UK was skillfully crafted, the fact that approval has not been granted to remain in UK is most remarkable.   No access to accomodation or work, passport has to be produced on any official transaction in UK, and after that starvation,no food banks, once existing rental lease runs out,not renewed  under threat to landlords of massive fines

Those fake passport holders using Dutch passports  from East Africa ,Goa etc using Portugese passports are out likened to s.hit off a shovel   ,  no chance  none whatsoever to remain  bye bye

No 3.6 million EU citizens are being given the push from UK  that is more millions about to riot in the EU    ,it does not get any better than this-

Still waiting for you to produce a link that shows it UK Govt policy to remove 3.6 million people will be forced to leave the UK

If you can't produce a link then clearly you are a Troll

EU citizens must now apply online to legally stay in UK - YouTube

www.youtube.com/watch?v=xexlE1XytfY

An estimated 3.6 million European Union citizens live in the UK but after the Brexit transition period ends at the end of this year, the government wants them to apply online to secure their legal ....No chance of permission being granted either.

Now that was not hard to find, all over the net.  In your interest now to leave voluntarily or be forced out, as early as June this year, when negotiationd break down WTO  rules OK      in the meantime   bye bye  lol

3.6 million people will be applying on line, the process has already started. Every chance of their applications being accepted, very few will be rejected.

Also, don't forget the latest proposals by the government to provide a large number of exceptions to enable employers who can't function without employing EU labour to continue recruiting from the EU.

Nice dream you had there but fortunately not one shared by the British government or the EU.

The E.U. position is clear since a long time, and confirmed once more  lately.

Despite this the U.K. seems to hesitate, and will wait  till June to express their decision.

Why can't they   already make that decision now.

It give the impression they are looking/hope for something.

Sorry to disappoint you but with over 3 million have already applied to stay and even if the UK goes to WTO they can still stay without applying until the end of 2020

As for myself you will be deported before me

"It give the impression they are looking/hope for something."

Of course they are hoping for something. Boris and Glorious-Britain-Gove are not stupid, they know very well that the City's single greatest boost over the last decade has been the free access to the EU and passporting which has massively increased the international influx of banks and other service providers in the UK.

They are well aware that if there is no deal and the EU closes free access to the City it will be very damaging to financial services in the UK.

Of course they are hoping for a deal. They're not stupid. But they are both extreme nationalists, alas, and for the privelege of satisfying their Glorious glorious Britannia fantasies they would be more than willing to sacrifice the economy. As the recent ban on labour from Europe clearly demonstrates.

- Both sides know exactly what to expect in all circumstances and are getting on with it &

- The Conona virus is a far bigger threat to the economy during this timeframe.

It's gone up somewhat since Bercow & Co picked up their P45s.

Right now the coronavirus is a threat to the economy, but the UK also faces the threat of the EU closing  free access to the City of London's services providers.

So far already £1 trillion of assets and 7,000 banking jobs moved from UK to EU due to fear of a no-deal Brexit, as this fine UK newspaper explains:

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/brexit-city-of-london-jobs-financial-services-banking-impact-a8975711.html

Can you imagine what will happen if no-deal Brexit becomes a de-facto reality and the City's service providers no longer have free access to the EU's market?

The exodus of assets and jobs leaving the City will be greater still. The City's position as a financial hub will be greatly damaged.

Coronavirus will be a temporary issue, but the EU closing markets to the City's financial services providers will be for good.

Not so,of course applying on line unlikely to suceed. Should have been done years ago applying for UK citizenship, even going back 40 years has been rejected, now just plain impossible.  Boris wants 3.6 million out and 3.6 million will be getting out, applying right now for permission to stay   Yeah  ,out you go,...no need for a stamp in passport of any permissions to stay, fact there is if  nothing there states everything.

temporary (very temporary) obv will be granted to toilet cleaners ,bar staff whatever  ,hard for knuckleheaded irish tho,but a gift to Boris to get rid of irish tinkers at one fell swoop

I am sure fellow UK citizens are overjoyed at the forthcoming events   God bless Boris  lol

In short no free breakfasts, none  lol

Shame that you are completely unaware of the facts.

1. A large majority of online applications will succeed, where's your evidence to the contrary, other than in your dreams?

2. Irish citizens will continue to have full access to the UK, where's your evidence to the contrary, other than in your dreams?
