Popular Post webfact Posted March 3, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 3, 2020 Covid-19: Put Thai prostitutes returning from Korea on an island in quarantine, social media goes ape as 5000 set to return Picture: Thai Rath Fears that about 5,000 people who are set to return to Thailand from South Korea may be carrying the deadly Covid-19 virus has caused great concern on Thai social media. Many of the 5,000 are thought to be Thai prostitutes working in the country where the virus has taken hold. There are also agricultural workers among thousands who work illegally in the country on tourist visas. Online site Drama-Addict contained suggestions that the returnees must be kept away from the general population. Some suggested putting the "Phee Noi" (little ghosts as they are referred to in Thai) on a deserted island for a 14 day quarantine. The South Koreans have declared an amnesty for Thais on overstay in their country. People who turn themselves in from now until the end of June will not be fined or placed on a blacklist, reported Thai Rath. The media said that the Korean authorities are giving appropriate medical treatment to Thais irrespective of their legal or illegal status in the country. Some 5,000 workers are in the process of returning to Thailand from Korea. Among these 136 are believed to be from Daegu where outbreaks have been most severe. In related news Thai Rath reported that DPM Somkid Jatusripitak is working normally after returning from Japan. Thaivisa notes that in the past the number of illegal Thai workers in Korea has been suggested as 20,000 with many arriving on tourist visas and never leaving. The authorities there have tightened up in recent years but many are likely to be taking advantage of the amnesty, and fears over being infected in South Korea, to make their way home to Thailand. Many of the workers are employed in the sex industry. Source: Thai Rath -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2020-03-03 Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking Thailand news and visa info 1 10

Popular Post Tayaout Posted March 3, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 3, 2020 You can't make this <deleted> up. On another note, I'm sure many well respected members of this forum would volunteer to spend 14 days on said island to help ensure the girls stay [w]healthy. 12 3 62

Popular Post TheAppletons Posted March 3, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 3, 2020 Reminds me of an old joke: Two missionaries are on a deserted island and are captured by natives. The head native asks the first missionary, "Death or bunga bunga"? The man thinks about it, doesn't want to die and says, "Bunga Bunga". The male natives take turns, uh, "having their way" with him. The head native asks the second missionary, "Death or bunga bunga"? The second man says, "I'd rather die. I choose death." The head native says, "Fine. Death by bunga bunga!" 8 70
Popular Post unamazedloso Posted March 3, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 3, 2020 Weird is an understatement but whats mind boggling is the amount of illegal workers. They need to adopt the thai system with fancy cars to track these people down in future but this would actually be a real job where as here its just a couple farang every once and a while doing petty things. 21 1 1 5
Popular Post Misterwhisper Posted March 3, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 3, 2020 Yup, put them all on Koh Samui or Phuket. The sex tourists will be delighted for the ample choice! 3 10

Popular Post darksidedog Posted March 3, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 3, 2020 I note the Koreans are waiving any issues regarding Thais immigration status, and offering a full amnesty, as they see the threat of the virus as being way more important. Be interesting to see the reaction here when someone on overstay is found to be infected, or wishes to leave citing virus fears. 23 4

Popular Post RJRS1301 Posted March 3, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 3, 2020 I am wondering how the immigration people will identify the prostitutes. Will that be by appearance, will they ask them their occupation ? Why only prostitutes being quarantined? Why not anyone coming in from Korea or China, and now it appears that it is in Dubai. 1 3 2

I kinda doubt the Thai authorities would be extending the same courtesy in comparable situations. How's the medical facilities in the IDC??? 2
Popular Post OneMoreFarang Posted March 3, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 3, 2020 I think it's interesting how many members here thinks that is funny. Do you think these illegal Thai prostitutes visit a doctor in Korea if they are sick? Should they just return to Thailand and work again in the usual places like Pattaya? How long will it take to spread the virus if only 1% of them are infected? I think it's a good idea to quarantine them. 10 2

There was a news report out of the U.S. yesterday about one of the U.S. evacuees from Wuhan who had been in 14 day quarantine with the others at a military facility in the U.S. During the 14 day quarantine, the person tested at least twice negative for CV, and then was released out of quarantine. Some days later, after being out in the community, the same person was back in hospital with now a positive test for CV... And that's not the first or only case of that kind to have occurred. The 14 day quarantines in the case of CV seem to be a far from perfect preventive measure. 4

The only difference between Thai hookers and others returns from Korea is the hookers are likely to have more "social engagement" compared to an ordinary person and thus perhaps have greater potential for spreading the virus prior to being corraled. And for the same reason, perhaps a greater likelihood of having acquired the virus while in Korea.

It reminds me of the "dark hours" of our recent history when, in France, the police zealously rounded up and then locked up the Jews in the Vel' d'Hiv' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vel'_d'Hiv_Roundup Nothing surprises me more from the Thai civil servant

There are also agricultural workers among thousands who work illegally in the country on tourist visas. What? Not the right visa, no work permit, and prostitution? No TM 47? I get it. These are honest Thais. That's almost impossible. There are no prostitutes in Thailand or any other country. I still don't understand why my German wife was mad at me when I said I need to fly to Bangkok to a seminar. I've checked everywhere. Neither in Bangkok nor in Pattaya are prostitutes to find. NIL- ZERO. They don't exist. They only give massages, and some of them send messages on Thai friendly. 3
