Budget hotel in Chiang Rai city

Featured Replies

Could anybody recommend a budget hotel in Chiang Rai city center.

I just need a clean, quiet room with hot shower inside a budget hotel for one week stay there. I don't even need air-conditioning.

IMO B2 is the best value.  2 locations in Chiang Rai.  B2 Night Bazaar starts at ฿485.  Can book directly on their website.

ditto. super good experience with B2 in other locations.

they have their own app or on Agoda.

B2, greenpark, unique residence.

These 3 are all great.

I like the Chiang-Rai Hotel (50 meter from the Clock Tower landmark).

Very friendly staff, quiet, clean rooms, good shower, good non-noisey air-co and television.

Approx 500 THB per night for the standard double-room (maybe less now).

There is a ground-floor, and 3 floors of rooms (with nice huge atrium in the middle).

Ask for the 1st floor rooms as there is no elevator.

No breakfast, but many nice breakfast shops near the clock tower.

I see they have one in Huahin now too. Less than 1k for a sea view.  I usually stay at Ibis but it looks like I might have to change next time.

Orchids Guest house is about as central as it gets in Jed Yod Road and currently offers rooms for 444B online.

Large clean airy rooms, aircon, cable tv... I have a couple of friends who stay there regularly.

Or next door to orchids is long time CR budget favorite baan bua...

Yes, Baan Bua is very nice and quiet. Nice garden, nice owner and staff.

My wife and I have stayed there several times. It's clean reasonably priced and most importantly for my wife, close to the markets.

I find the B2 at Punprakan road("Clock tower") much better than the Night bazaar one.

Do you have any sort of link to this ? So ground floor is reception etc, and the rooms start on 1st floor ?

It seems there two hotels with the name 'Chiang Rai' Hotel in Chiang Rai. LOL

One is 'Hi Chiang Rai' hotel , another is 'adjective-less Chiang Rai' hotel.

Which one is this? Do you have any link to a picture of the hotel?

Here a link in Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/gtfXKfBe3Uxrdokd6

And opposite the hotel is a very nice Coffee Shop, Destiny!

For around 500 baht per night that looks very good indeed.

Another nice thing about CR...lots of good choices for budget hotels as well as some real bargains for more upscale places.  If only the smoke would go away.

Yes, reception is on ground floor.  There might be rooms on the ground floor too, but that's the recreation area so better to take non-ground floor rooms.  As there is no elevator, best to ask for those 1st floor rooms.

You can book them on Agoda (they are not on booking.com).

Address > 519 Suksathit Road, approx 50 meter from the Clock Tower.

My wife and I stayed there friday night 13/03/2020 only one complaint, students had filled all the rooms, seems they were in town to write exams. They were well behaved, no problems with them at all but we had to stay on the top floor. I wouldn't want to forget something and have to go back for it lol.
