Well maybe the government should take a long hard look at this. Maybe the old retirees should be given a fair go,they live here spend their money here no matter what. Instead of making it harder for retirees, you should make it easier, think long term.

Being forced to 'stay out of Thailand' for a while is exactly the reason, why I'll be spending my holidays on the beaches of Gold Coast, Byron Bay, and Cairns next holiday, rather than Phuket or Ko Samui... - I'm sure Oz will appreciate this development aid from Thailand. ????

There is a lovely, refreshing sea breeze in Jomtien every late afternoon when I join a few 'farang' friends -- long time residents with Thai family here - for a "sundowner" and good conversation.

We , and the odd Thai family, or Russians-on-short-holiday, are the only business that is keeping our regular chair vendor going.

Oh that’s not nice, making me miss home like that. But I do agree the beaches are 100% better on the Gold Coast. Byron bay is a beautiful relaxing place. It’s a shame that Thailand doesn’t invest a bit of money into these places like patong beach,Kata beach,Karon beach. Two beach cleaners wouldn’t go a stray working between those three beaches. But Australia and Thailand are two completely different countries, they offer different holiday experiences. Depends on what your into,or what you should stay out of.LOL.

Yes in the afternoon onshore winds are nice. But in mornings it is a noxious mix of no wind or offshores that that combine land masses pollution with the burning still going on with these people. Even after a little rain it's still bad air  .Take a look outside now, preferably from a high point. Maybe the all day prevailing onshore winds are delayed this year.

No one from California or Australia comes here for the beaches. But the longview is always nice.
