Actually most of us have some DNA from Neanderthals. That's not necessarily a bad thing.  Stupid is as stupid does. Even high IQ people regularly do stupid things.    I could include ba

That's why so many foreigners love living in Issan. For the reasons you've mentioned. Getting away from everything.

The OP is right about life as usual. One of the popular resorts at Khao Kho had 3 double-decker buses with tourists to have a party last night. And these buses usually come from the city.

They should watch some Thai news on TV then because there is enough info there.

They're probably glued to soaps or workpoint tv.

I think unworldly is a better description.  With a pandemic going on, what a nice way to be.

ignorance is bliss.

Thanks for your interesting report.  Trust all will go well for your area as this virus is a real indiscriminate killer and is easily transmitted in crowded venues...

Personally, I would avoid crowds for the time being...

To be correct this virus is mainly dangerous for elderly people with preconditions, not an indiscriminate killer. As usual, Thaivisa posters hyping up panic.

Thailand is incredibly safe, only 1 death so far. more chance catching Dengue fever.

follow the rules and relax.

You sound like you are all pretty isolated anyway..

Unfortunately modern travel will bring it to you soon,,,, maybe one of the 5,000 girls made

jobless who are or have headed home who will ensure all of Thailans is affected

Your post is incorrect...this virus is a danger and capable of killing all ages...including young adults.

This has been debunked again and again.

In France and Italy, for example, around half of those hospitalized are below 50...hospitalized, not only infected...

yes, 20,000 caught Dengue fever this year.  Double last years figures.  The symptoms are the same as Covid19

To really understand the Coronavirus, I suggest reading the book 'On the Beach' and substitute the word radiation for Coronavirus.

I got back to UK last week,  tested for Covid as carrying symptoms but tested negative.

My partner in Issan and her family well clued up ...virtually in lockdown,  not attending local temple events, funerals,  weddings,  gate locked except for necessary deliveries such as drinking water (and their hosed down) , monks told not to call for alms anymore and partners mother gave monks "Grab" telephone number if their hungry. Not everyone gets what's going on and acting appropriately...just look at supposedly bright westerners still partying in London Florida etc

Two other quick stories from local town near our village that shows they are on the ball....a falang was in the bank this morning trying to open a bank account along with his pregnant Thai wife, happened to mention he had flown in this morning from Europe...the bank manager took him to one side told him he really should be in isolation for 2 weeks come back then and she'd be happy to help...and a "local" got back from Korea and the village seniors suggested they isolate (the whole family) in a disused farmhouse outside the village and they would bring them chickens/ ducks veg every day...no argument,  no drama,  all very friendly and the family did it willingly. Locals are better at sorting these things than the government...

How many have died below 50?

Same, same but in Northern Thailand.
