Please don’t bite my head off for asking this next question...

I fully understand that I’m living in another country and millions of people need help more than me... but ... I’m just wondering where someone like me stands in all of this as at the end of the day I have to feed myself and pay rent etc aswell.

Ive paid tax and social security in Thailand for 7 years but I haven’t seen anything about the government helping expats.. (again I understand I’m living in there country as an immigrant but this has to be asked)

So my question is am I just left to try and survive off my last salary for the next few months or have I missed some kind of help somewhere.

I’m sure there are 1000s of expats out there thinking the same thing.

Again if you turn around and tell me it’s my fault for living here then I’ll take it ???? but I’m sure that can’t be the case.

I don't believe the local government has any intention or the resources for that matter to bail out expats. Whatever social servives you might be entitled to are those from your home country, and if indeed you think it will come to being destitute here...I might suggest at your earliest opportunity you head back to home base to re-evaluate your plans. Just keeping it real

in some places I see that business can get something.. so not sure.

So for what I'm paying social security for the past 7 years?

you will never receive help of any kind here.

If you've lost your job, you're entitled for unemployment cash, I think it's for six months and 50 % of your salary.

Taking the money out as a lump sum seems to be different now. i think you have to be 55 to do so.

BTW, you can go to a dentist and they pay 1,000 baht per year.

No matter where you're from, you'll have to get in touch with your embassy and if somebody from your country will pay them back, they give you money and a ticket.

But there's nothing in Thailand that covers foreigners.

Please see attached PDF file.

Where are you getting this from. A legally employed foriegner paying into Thai social security gets the same benefits as a Thai person, unemployment, sickness etc.

In the 5,000 Baht/month scheme they decided to help only 9 million out of 25 million Thais who applied. Do you really think they're going to help a farang?

Depending on how long you have been paying, it will pay a (small) pension.

When you die, your nominee will receive a payment to help cover your funeral. (I did when my wife died. She was British and a teacher.)

Dependant upon your employment/status there may be other benefits.

The 5000b ( handout) is for non paying (SSF) Thai nationals only. Freelancers ,Entertaiment or casual workers.

You dont fit the criteria.

The best option i think for you if you are

1. Temporarily laid off 50% paid by employer up to 3 months

2.Terminated the labour law applies dependant on contract and years served.

THats my understanding
