How is your Thai Wife responding to the Coronavirus?

Those of us with real life experience of having a Thai Wife will know that they switch effortlessly from being your lover to your mother via several different personas including accountant, virgin, nymphomaniac, mad axe murderer, nurse, best friend, drinking buddy and property consultant.

 

But COVID-19 seems to bring out the mother in mine.  As I leave for work in the morning (I work in the food industry and can’t work from home every day) she puts a mask on my face, makes sure I have hand sanitizer and a spare mask in my ‘school bag’, then sends Line messages to me three times a day to remind me to wash my hands.

 

On returning home it’s like a scene from ‘Chernobyl’ – mask off, wash hands, clothes in wash, sanitize my phone, keys, bag …. Then she starts spraying everything with industrial alcohol – and that stuff stings like crazy if you get it in your eyes!

 

I love that she tries so hard to look after me, contrary to the bar stool gossip about Thai girls, but my phone is suffering from alcohol poisoning and my clothes are starting to fade.

 

How’s your Thai Wife reacting to the COVID-19 situation?

A lot of stereotypes in the OP.  I feel bad for you guys that have to deal with that stuff. 

My wife is handling it just like any other normal human being.  Not sure what her race has to do with it. 
We're about halfway between the "End of the world is here" nut cases and the "It's no big deal, why can't I go to my local bar?" idiots. 
We're being extra careful, washing our hands, limiting time outside the house and wearing a mask when we go places.  At home we're staying busy, cleaning the house and doing some projects we never seem to have the time for.  Making the best of the time we have and doing our part as members of society.  Nothing more,  nothing less.

Thinking has changed a lot over the last few weeks here.

 

As I was buying additional supplies in February she was saying 'this won't happen in Thailand'.

 

She's used to the situation now and is annoyed with people who aren't following the rules regarding 14 day quarantine, staying in, social distancing, etc.

I've been married for about 4 days and 3 hours to my new wife, so it's sex non stop.

She is afraid. Working with government, they had one case of covid in their sections.

Everybody just need to keep on working. No 14 days quarantine to see what happens. No cleaning with alcohol.

They changed now to phone contact with customers. The government didnt shut down the sections.

Probably waiting, who is next in line to have covid and maybe then close? 

So she is afraid, i told her to stay at home, her section urgently talk with boss about this, but they follow boss.  

Too bad im not there now, as i would have tied her down. and not let her go.

In this time she is also transferred to a place with no covid yet, told her to stay at home 14 days and her new boss doesnt seem to be aware of the situation?! I can say whatever i want but its Thai government boss way against my words. I hope she is and will be alright and nothing happens. Also told and tell her again and again to be careful with contact as she regular visits her mom. Told her to stay far away from her , no hugs also with others from family.

Surely hope it will not turn into a family drama or any drama

Here at the end of the road in darkest south Surin, not much change really.

 

We were doing brunch take-aways at the nearest PTT instead of the usual sit-down but they seem to have closed entirely now.

 

B/F has learned to wash his hands about 3 times a day (as opposed to practically never). Wears a mask reluctantly when out. Family - 2 adults & assorted children & adolescents - arrives every day from the farm 40km away to do current 'works' around the place (new khlong along the back & new chook house & yard) but no masks, no washing, just low-productivity labour and lots of eating their way thru my budget ... Life goes on and the plowman homeward plods his weary way.

I had a good laugh at the OP. Good description!

 

In fact no changes at all in our daily lives, except that we had an inspirational change of attitude a while back and instead of feeling doom and gloom, accepted that we'd be at home maybe a little more than usual and to treat this as a 'holiday'. With that simple change came a different approach to daily life, more fun and more smiles again.

Pragmatically, supportive of her family circle. She gave a 30 kg bag of rice to her brother and sister-in-law, who have no money.

She got a good laugh out of the social distancing sex position diagrams. We were experimenting at 5 am this morning.

I’m overseas stuck at work, locked down, isolated no chance or return for the foreseeable future. 

 

My Wife is at home with our 6 year old son, home schooling him, keeping him occupied, keeping them safe, keeping it together so that I have absolutely nothing worry about and feel safe in the knowledge that she’s got it all in hand - its a tough task.

 

I’m not sure what nationality has do with it (from the Op) but my Wife is Thai, but I’d expect a good lady of any nationality will be able to handle this well if the correct choice in partner has been made in the first place. Its about support and staying level headed.

 

That my Wife is handling this crisis well is of no surprise to me. I’m also extremely glad of WhatsApp messaging and FaceTime vidoes which helps when I’ll probably be away for a while.

Same here, although my wife doesn't have a kid to help with her education !! 

But the house is getting a good cleaning and the fruit trees and other plants are getting watered lots... She's still smiling, might not be if this goes on past May !!

You are lucky. My wife has started watching the daily sopies. In the previous 5 years she never turned the TV on during the day. I am beginning to worry.

@Kinnock you obviously miss your mother and let your wife replace her in your life. There is a massive difference between a wife who worries about you and takes care of you and someone like your wife who you have allowed to take over your life. I bet she decides what you eat, how much alcohol if any you can drink, tells you what time to go to bed and wipes your backside too. Get her to back off or maybe you like it?

been told to stay at home for 2 weeks because we went on holiday (in thailand) a few weeks ago where there was 1 confirmed case

 

she cannot go back to work until she has an official covid test

 

hospital won't test her until after 2 weeks has finished as she has no symptoms
