As we talk, apparently there will be a curfew imposed from Friday, 10pm to 4am.

It doesn't look good, but let's hope for the best.

That won't help much, the thai don't care for it, i see it everywhere...shops are open, they sit right next to huge signs which forbids them to go in the park, they also don't wear masks outside, don't keep distance....

It sure doesn't look good but it's also no reason to panic, Thailand still does much better than the West where nobody at all wears a mouthmask.

  • What's the big deal with wearing a mask? For f^%k sake, just wear it.

  • Where? On a motorbike or walking on an empty street maybe. But any public place like a market, 7-11, etc. I have seen 100% of them wearing masks.  Only dumb falang without.

Considering the Greens keep telling us the world is overpopulated, and seeing all the homeless in the West. I'd say around 30% would not only be acceptable but beneficial to the survivors.

Lol, the virus came from China, which I believe is Mr Anutin's wider background. He should look in the mirror.

You absolutely do not. Thailand does much worse than Germany.

In Germany 500,000 people are tested every week. No major country in the world is more successful than Germany in fighting the virus.

Try and educate yourself on the facts.

Even if there is only one chance in 100 of getting coughed or sneezed on and getting CV, why risk it?

Yes, you would have to close your eyes as there is a chance of being infected through the tear ducts, but more likely through nose and mouth.  Its a respiratory virus.

Wearing a mask could save you from infection.

Also you might be pre-symptomatic and cough on someone and infect them without knowing.

Wear a mask when around people.  It is simple, cheap, and easy

Health and wellness

Well, this thread is about masks, i would recommend every foreigner to wear one when going out, just not to upset the locals.

Agree that panicking is useless, but looking at the bigger picture, i am quite worried, not just for myself, but for millions and millions without job and money in the near future.

Errr, because the evidence says that wearing masks is useless to protect yourself from the virus, because the top medical professionals in the world are saying wearing a mask is not necessary, perhaps?

Or maybe because the country which is most successful in dealing with the virus is one where masks are not worn?

Or perhaps because I'm not terrified of getting the virus, because if I do I'll be immune?

Take your pick from any of the reasons above.

I know for some people the mask is some psychological wonder weapon that works like a comfort blanket, but I'm no longer in Kindergarden and I don't need mask. If you do, that's perfectly allright, wear one. But nobody tells me what to do.

...

But nobody tells me what to do.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a classic example of Darwinism at work... ????

Then why is the West now fighting for mouthmasks with the USA bidding 4 times more and buying the most of them to be sent to the US?

I just heard in Vietnam you get a $10 fine the first offence for not wearing a mask in public, second offence up to one year jail. Unsure if this applies at province level, or nation wide.

Wonder how many arrogant westerners will get caught out by this, as it seems some would prefer jail before they submit to wearing a mask.

All the people I see in Australia who are not following social distancing rules are 'arrogant' Asians wearing masks.

Come on now... you're seriously suggesting that some foreigners would risk a year in jail not to wear a mask if such laws existed? That's a stretch.

Yeah about a year.

Obviously for medical personnel.

For them it makes sense because they're in much closer contact with sick people.

This does not apply to non-medical professionals.

Yes, Germany is a Western country, I'm glad you're learning here.

And in German wearing masks is very, very rare. Yet excellent results in fighting Covid19. Better than Thailand.

So why wear something that is not needed?

No, it's not actually. You should read Darwin sometime.

Because they are asking you too. What more reason do you need ?

Who are these people? This is what it must have been like under the Taleban...wear the Hijab!

Why would I wear this infernal thing? You want to sweat your face off and breath your own odours for hours please go ahead.

Don't tell others to share in your delusions.

I am not telling you do anything. Thailand is requesting you to wear one in public places and you are here in their country.

Didn't your Mummy tell you you can’t always do what you want to do ?

In Austria EVERYBODY wears a mask and yes that's also the West.

Now the Western countries where masks were not mandatory also start to rethink that decision, even the US is thinking of making them mandatory.

Yes, that's true.

And Austria does have a very good mortality rate as well. That was of course the case before they introduced the mask duty as well.

Not Germany:

German Health Minister Jens Spahn said on Tuesday that he currently sees "no need for an obligation" in his country to wear masks.

Germany carries a bit more weight than Austria.

There are things that are reasonable to request, and things that are not reasonable to request.

If Thailand request tomorrow that you should wear your underpants on your head, would you do that too?

Do you realise how pathetic you sound?

Like a spoilt brat who won’t do something just because someone has told him to.

Hopefully they will slap a hefty fine on all those children like you who just want to be different because teacher has told them to do something.

Grow up. You’re not at home, you’re in Thailand.

Do you have any idea how pathetic you and your ilk look, doing something that you know is stupid, pointless and a major inconvenience just because you're afraid to stand up for yourself? It's pathetic.

They can come with any fine they like, I'll give them a tip so they can buy an amulet.

I am at home, so what if this is Thailand. This does not give a right to any fool off the street to tell me what to wear.

Wear your precious little mask if you want, to please your Thai mask tyrants. This is a little part of Germany that will never surrender.

Ah, so they discovered you lied about your age.

Never mind , no rush. Only one more year to wait.

I dont wear a mask and I only wear one if I have to for entering a shop or aporoaching a police checkpoint. Wearing a mask does not protect you from getting Covid 19 unless someone caughs in you face. It is not transmitted airborn. How many Thais and farangs wear a mask and then pull them down with dirty hands. It is much more important to wash you hands regularly than to wear a mask. I still laugh when I see people walking around with a mask on, thinking they are safe.
