Buriram opening up: But you'll need a special sticker in your passport from May 1st

Thai media reported that the province of Buriram in Thailand's north east region was preparing to lift some pandemic restrictions from May 1st.

The plans of governor Thatchakorn include requiring all residents who have quarantined themselves at home for 14 days to seek special stickers for their ID.

The shape of things to come regarding eating in restaurants has also been reported.

Foreigners should affix the "Buriram Healthy" sticker to their passports, Thais over 15 to their ID cards.

How to get one of the stickers was not explained as yet.

It will allow the holder to go to fresh food markets, restaurants and other businesses in the province. People will be able to order drinks but not alcohol.

But you must have a sticker or you won't be allowed entry. If you leave the province the sticker will be removed and you will have to go into 14 day quarantine at a provincial facility to get it back on your return.

The measure is part of the province's new policy of "Pert Ban Pit Muang" - opening up residences, keeping the city closed.

Some walkways and selling of street food will be allowed under the new plans that featured on the page of Newin Chidchob the chairman of Buriram United FC.

Thai Rath also reported how social distancing measures in restaurants in the province will look.

Newin had donated 10,000 screens to place on tables in restaurants to keep people from infecting each other over lunch and dinner.

Why not just have everyone get it tattooed on there forearms.

Husband:  Honey lets go to the next town and visit the shops they have.

Wife: Sounds good, let me pack up the kids.

Drive down the road they go, get stopped at the checkpoint

Soldier/Police:  Where you go?

Wife: Shopping in next town

Soldier/Police: "Papers Please", no papers show your Government mandated tattoo

And so it begans....

If it keeps up, it is a possibility.  We already are suppose to have our passports available........

And here I was under the impression that it was totally illegal for a governor of a city to order non-citizens to place additional stickers to their passports.

Uhm...

Aren't those who quarantined themselves at home for 14 days not supposed to stay home?

A sticker will declare them covid-free?

Or must read it as ''residents of Buriram who have quarantined themselves in the province for a few months..'' ?

Something in this reporting.

And the seller for the printer, sure it won't not be the only printer to print these stickers ????

I am pretty sure its illegal to affix non immigration stickers to or in a passport it would invalidate passport even supposedly removable ones would be on dodgy ground

Agreed. Flatly refuse if they try or risk all sorts of probs while traveling when this nonsense is over.

better off putting it on your licence rather than your passport

Totally unworkable.

14 day self-isolation I can understand but 14 days in "Provincial quarantine" is ridiculous.

Do they have any idea how people enter Buriram province on a daily basis ?

Are they going to have a fleet of monkey wagons at each border point waiting to take arrivals to the quarantine facility ?

I think they could justifiably do that if someone showed symptoms of the virus, but <deleted> not for ordinary travelers.

I think that is a actually a very good idea to start opening up.

In case nobody had noticed yet, this is the more worrying thing.

You can be assured that the alcohol ban is extended nationwide after 30 April

I think at the moment None.

You mean no scanning for a chip, talk about behind the times.

akin to the number of the beast.....

I live on the border.  TESCO and Macro are in another province. I go there, 14-day quarantine, shop, go home, 14-day quarantine, go back.

I have very clean hands

They should quarantine everyone in the airport for 10,000 baht a night for a minimum 14 days, and give them a 15-day visa extension.  Then sell them "covid-free" sticker when they leave for 10,000 and insurance for 1,000 a day

this virus will make people tens of trillions  when the world MUST get the vaccine every year.

Sorry, that was a rhetorical question.................................. but I fully accept the accuracy of your answer ????

When you say "rhetorical," are you saying he doesn't have to answer?
