I can imagine the hollow feeling in your stomach when the gate key fell to the floor. Would it be possible to fit a device that automatically switches the gate to "manual" in a power cut? Crossy? Crossy? Potentially, although most of the "manual" releases involve a mechanical action to physically disconnect the motor. Wise? Probably not, one really doesn't want the gates to unlock every time the juice goes off (accidentally or deliberately).
