There is an automatic presumption that a vaccine would be 100% effective. Not sure that would be the case. Don't worry. The huge numbers will not return for at least two years. If ever.

Be a bit upsetting  if Swedens PMs got it right. Heard Immunity let em roam.. even if not it culls the weak.

There are many experts talking about the potentially extreme dangers of lockdown and the devastating effects it has on the immune system. I think it is an over reaction. Partial lockdown maybe. Protecting the elderly and vulnerable, sure. But entire societies and economies? Seems strange, bizarre and way over the top to me.

Hmm,agree but as much as i dislike Leaders they do have a problem one could liken  to speed limits. A few Drivers are utter idiots so we all suffer a right to use sound judgement and crawl at 70 on clear empty hi ways wondering <deleted>. i realy dont know anymore.

if that's true the peace and quiet will be gone..... back with loudness, spiting, screaming, peeing/pissing not to mention the fighting over the sea food buffet

At least the free food queues and suicides due to poverty will be gone.

No, they don't need one. "Other nationalities" do require one.

I do wonder WHY Thai government is so loyal to Chinese...

They DO NOT spend any money when they travel.

Before moving to Thailand me and my family traveled the Europe.

In a tiny town Salzburg there was a place (maybe not just one, but we've seen one) - a Chinese restaurant. And four buses of Chinese tourists... They stay in places owned by Chinese, they eat in places owned by Chinese. These is almost zero solo-Chinese tourists in any country (that are coming from mainland China).

And still, Thai government wants more and more of them as "tourists".

Of course they will come flooding back because most have had no jobs for months. One boat accident in Phuket and the Chinese tourists dropped dramatically. What will happen after a pandemic?

Chinese tourists will return when Beijing thinks the time is right , end of story.

Beijing just announced that the city of Beijing coronavirus risk levels will be downgraded twice from level I to level III by the May 31st.

Chinese will be coming soon and could be as soon as this June.

Is it a myth perpetuated by westerners about Chinese tourists not spending money? If, as most posters here complaint, that money is the one and only consideration for all Thais, why would they then welcome the Chinese if they are spending very little, and only in Chinese owned businesses? Fact is that many small shops and businesses profit from Chinese tourists. Except probably the ladyboys, gogo bars and pubs with service girls, Chinese dont seem to frequent such places.

Definitely Chinese would prefer to tuck into a bowl of hot noodle soup when touring in Salzburg. An enterprising local could have opened a restaurant and hired a Chinese chef! In Asia, i find them eating local food. Yes, those coming from interior villages are badly behaved, this will change slowly.

My knowledge of the Chinese Communist Tourists here is gained from Thai Visa Posters, Felangs i meet who frequent Tourist Traps. Fortunately they dont visit where i live, and am sure theres many older posters here that are lucky too. I have seen a Felang in a Beer Chang T Shirt And Tats, only a glimpse mind you, i joined the nice people running away. Young Ferang School Teachers are the main "DONT SIT BY Me" type in upcountry ares, possibly because their Socialist Lefty too these days.????

Of course it is.

See, the Chinese dont live on credit cards like all the 'rich westerners' who have access to money, but it isn't theirs.

And because the money they have, they earned by hard work, they do not just blow it.  Instead they want everything they can get for there money, and more as well as the reason they are so popular at the All you can eat buffets and Zero Dollar tours.  Popularity has its price....

Like it or not, the Chinese will be one of the first tourists to return to Thailand. They will also constitute the biggest group by country and are the most valuable tourists to Thailand because of their sheer numbers. The Thai Government knows this and that’s why there has been so much emphasis on welcoming them and this will just continue into the future.

How many of you will leave Thailand permanently?

the guy was proving wrong misleading information about Chinese not living with Credit Cards.... I live there and know for a fact the majority of the so called middle class in China lives with Credit, either cards or bank loans or family loans, they are  overwhelmed in debt, but the CCP propaganda people will say differently. Currently banks overwhelmed with so much defaulted loans, real estate property repossessions, car repossessions due to lack of payment because they run up the credit card (S) to the max, I said cards as they usually have more then one

the guy is a CCP lover, don't waste your time, you can see by his postings he only covers/answer posts related to/or criticizing China, he's not interested in proving any productive/credible information

What can one even say? Tourism is not returning to Thailand anytime soon. If you think about it, the group that comprised perhaps 60% of all arrivals (lower to middle income Chinese and Indians) are the ones who have been hardest hit by this idiotic worldwide economic shutdown. Tourism in Thailand will never recover to even close to it's former levels, and that leaves millions out of work. Most countries will still be required to have Covid letters, as the virus is still raging in many countries. And some countries will not issue that letter (impossible to get in the US). Plus, will the mandatory health insurance still be required? Will it be even stricter than before? And just what are people returning to, or coming to? Will everything be open? How about nightlife?

There are so many unanswered questions, it boggles the mind. One thing is for certain. Thailand will be feeling the effects of this for a very, very long time. So will the rest of the world. And rosy projections are just that. They are based on less than zero.

Nah. They are junkies for the Chinese. They'll have the hordes back ASAP.

I weep ( metaphorically ) for Chiang Mai and Thailand if that's seen as the answer. Sold themselves for a bowl of pottage.

Is that right? Chinese are the big spender in Las Vegas and all the casinos are catering to Chinese gamblers. Very interesting.

Yes they go on tours to Vegas, for which the flights are in-expensive, and which cost them little as they are sponsored by the casino industry.  When in Vegas, they stay in hotels, and the buffets there are also a big attraction for them as well as the free walk along the strip.  My best friend has worked as a director of security operations in Vegas for quite a few years, and I have a place in Boulder City I go to when I get a chance where family lives.  Unless you have proof that they spend thousands upon thousands of dollars on those trips please show us.   Chinese whales are few and far between...
