Immigration and tourist police went to investigate after reports that a foreigner had been living in a house on the holiday island of Koh Phangan for a long time, reported Naew Na.

They went to house number 281 in Moo 2.

They found 35 year old Nigerian national Justine O.O. had entered the kingdom on a tourist visa last August.

His passport showed he was due to leave in October but never did and had now racked up an overstay of 210 days.

He was handed over to the Koh Phangan police for prosecution.

Surat Thai immigration chief Pol Col Suparick Phankoson told the media this was all part of IB chief Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang's master plan to rid Thailand of criminal elements and lawbreaking foreigners.

Maybe it's time for a sweep of visa of all Nigerian nationals in the country ? Seems with several picked up daily on overstay, romance fraud or drugs dealings they are more trouble than they are worth

We keep reading these stories. It's obvious that whatever system they have at the immigration department isn't working ...

The IDC must be getting pretty crowded, what, with few flights out. On another note, with all the tourists gone hiding in the crowd is getting more difficult; those few of us that remain stick out a bit. I wouldn't be surprised at all if I hadn't been reported by someone, you always get one or two a@#eh9les who think they can put the boot in. As I haven't had any "visits" I assume a quick check on the immigration database would put laid to that pretty quickly.

Has Nigeria sent all its A Grade folk to Thailand  :whistling:

I guess he wasn't here due to Covid.

He's gonna be forced to move houses very soon - straight to the IDC.

If you zoom in on the paper he is holding you can just about make out the following :

' I , Justine Obongo , Nigerian national , lately of Koh Phangan , do solemnly declare , that I am not related in any way to PM Prayuth , and therefore cannot appeal to any lawful impediment that might hinder my deportation from Thailand via an extended stay at the IDC. '

Sincerely ................. David Ubongo  '

Could be very interesting to find out how he financed his illegal stay here.

Maybe they should raise the bar for entry by Nigerians having to show vast more to get a visa

This is not a new problem. 30 years ago you had problems in Bangkok already with them. In many tourists areas in Bangkok they were hanging around and tried to sell drugs. It was impossible not to see that they were selling drugs...

There is no immigration on Koh Phangan.

When they come from Samui it will be known while they are on the ferry.

And I thought that it was us Brits that were the scourge of Thailand. Looks like we've got competition.

Bring it on.

He should have said he was a Nigerian Prince and he thought he had Diplomatic Immunity. Plus, he has $25 Million in a Nigerian Bank and was waiting all that time for it to transfer to Thailand.

I think he was born on that list. The immigration “master plan” stood out to me. I’ve live in the same place a lot longer and nobody’s been by. Guess it’s just a matter of time.

I am a little concerned by your apparently racist remark, pinklist him I say, or better yet, multicolour rainbow list him.

Why cover his face and give his name?

His choice and, presumably, not that many people would be able to recognise him from his name alone.
