Cost per square meter for decking?

Wood and cheap don't go together if you want something that the local wildlife won't make a meal of ????

We used Conwood Decking (30cm x 3m x 25mm) which looks like wood when painted and won't get eaten by anything. Comes out at about 500 Baht per m2 before paint.

Also we built our deck framework in steel for similar reasons, steel is cheap and readily available here and the tools (welder, chop saw, angle-grinder) can be had for very reasonable prices if you want to DIY.

Totally agree with regards to not using wood, i've suffered with termites in the past and it can get expensive to repair things!

Shera wood is also and option and is very durable.

Unless you can afford to purchase teak, my experience is that we have super termites here in Thailand and they have a voracious appetite and no amount of pest control will slow them down.  After five years, gave up and got rid of all the wood that had not already been eaten and went totally metal and tile
