  • They still haven't completed the first Bali Hai marina fiasco - what makes them think they can pull this off?

  • They seem to hate trees, shrubs, grass anything green....They also seem to dislike fountains.........They also dislike any kind of sitting areas or areas where people can congregate like open grassy are

  • Plant lots of trees instead of the  huge slabs of blue concrete !!!!! ( laughably they call it a public park)

Correction- Always looking for projects to fill the tills pockets of the usual suspects.

It's like the adverts they have here for new 3 million baht houses. In the driveways are two cars a Mercedes and a BMW, worth 3x more than the house.

Many that were completed have sat empty (or nearly so) since they were built.

Look at the shophouse complex across from Big C in South Pattaya. I remember watching it being built over 10 years ago. It appears that nearly half the units are still empty.
We used to laugh when tour buses would pull up in front of the bar and let out hordes of Chinese tourists who were "allowed" to shop in Big C for an hour before getting back on the bus and going somewhere else. They eventually stopped as people started blocking the area the buses were using to turn and park in (plus I'm guessing the "tourists" weren't impressed with what Big C had to offer as far as shopping was concerned).

Finally remembered to take some pics of those shop houses last week. I think they were built in 2010/2011. The oldest google pic is from 2012.
As you can see - many (most) of them are sitting empty and have been like that since they were built.

2020. If you look at pics from 2012, they are virtually identical.

And they are still building more all over the city !
Even on the Darkside, along dirty little sois that have almost no traffic, they are slapping up new buildings.

There's a scruffy little soi between BoonSamPhan and Khao Talo (2 of them actually). On one they have 13 shop house buildings in a row going up.
On the other they've been building a new housing complex (Ektara).

These are crappy little sois that usually have maybe a few scooters go up and down them every day as people short cut to/from soi Khao Noi or the Chill.

But someone got the money to build them and up they are going. If they'll ever sell is another question.

Of course, one of the first things that has to happen is wait for the construction to finish and people to start moving in, then they will have to dig up those little sois and install new drain pipes and resurface the roads.

And after that's done, they'll have to tear it up again to install new, larger water lines to feed all those new buildings. (You know, the kind of thing they could be doing now, before people start moving in.)

Although this pic might be a better "selling" one:
