Wow. Just wow.

i am sat in the epicenter of the so called Tourism hot spot of Thailand.

been sat here since noon and not a single other farang has walked past.

all the massage girls are sat outside the shops as usual (goodness knows who they are trying to get as a client, theres nobody here!!!)

shops are boarded up, as well as pubs and restaurants,

beer is not currently on sale where i am at so i have opted for a sprite..

from what I can see right now nobody is spending money,

a couple of young floozies just walked in sporting chanel jeans and a D&G handbag..

got me wondering who paid for those.

how long can Thailand ride this one out??

it looks depressing to say the least..

my burger was ok though ????

Just guess you have to drink it up for everyone.

You've missed the epicenter since you don't know where it is. Wander around a bit more, you might somehow hit it at random. Lots of attractive girls, esp on the weekend, nothing boarded up. Best burgers, too.

Yawn.

I just came back from the Royal Garden Plaza here in Pattaya. Extremely empty and it is for sure not the fault of the government. I think they do a great job. For sure better than a Merkel or the EU government or a Trump. There are simply no tourists. The mall is open. But in almost 3 decades living here I never saw it empty like this. Madame Tussauds put there some wax figures. They helped me to feel not too lonely - they are there but in the end this is a sad story,

Yea completely flattened is Pattaya, but with the borders closed I guess it will be fairly empty, although you would have to wonder where the esteemed farang residents are , like your good self??

As for the jeans and bags they are probably snides..

The tourists can't come to Thailand because there are no flights. What does the government of Thailand have to do with it? I think they really do a lot but they can't do miracles.

Went to Dukes in CM for lunch tody it was three quaters full not bad for lunch

OP have you been watching the news recently? the world has been in, and is hopefully, now coming out of a global pandemic. while some countries are slowly getting their tourist industry back it is hardly surprising there are not many tourists in thailand or anywhere else in the world. add to that thailand has been particularly strict on who can enter the country. maybe you should spend some time looking at what's going on in the world rather than sitting around looking for tourists and at sex workers.

Judging by your name the only reply is COME ON CITY!

As I'm an expat who doesn't rely on a business in Thailand, I'm absolutely loving it. Hardly any traffic on the roads and peace and quiet.

There it is, that's the reason. That and the time of day.

What else would you expect during a the Covid-19 restrictions in which no tourists can enter the country and you choose a venue that cannot sell the only thing it's customers, in the main, want it to sell?

No not the fault of the government, they can't help it that the airports are closed.

Perhaps they paid for them themselves?  Not every Thai woman needs someone else to provide for her.

You are correct, many Thai ladies are well able to provide for themselves.

My wife is worth a damn sight more than me.

That may have something to do with the airports and borders being closed

I think you have your facts wrong.  The government banned incoming international flights along with not allowing any foreign tourists to enter the country.

Did you happen to spot any families while you were out and about in the world class family resort?

Since these power hungry (*^%%^'s) have managed to get rid of the Covid-19, if we are to believe them, why don't they allow the waterholes to open up again, afraid we dirty farangs who live here amongst the Thai's might start spreading the disease from drinking ?

I think that this was the intent of the comment to which you have responded:

Examples of Sarcasm

Sarcasm is an ironic or satirical remark tempered by humor. Mainly, people use it to say the opposite of what's true to make someone look or feel foolish.

Most native Anglophones (unless they are Mid-West Americans or have Aspergers Syndrome) get it, even when presented "baldly" in print and thus without the facial/tonal nuances that make it so effective when "played live".

It has been raining all day so is even more quiet than usual, plus many places selling alcohol 11am-2pm, 5pm to late, go to Treetown in Buakhao the only place to go in town although apparently it was raided last night
