Perhaps they paid for them themselves?  Not every Thai woman needs someone else to provide for her.

My wife certainly doesn't, anyway, I have myself to provide for.

Yeah who cares about all of the Thais who are losing their business and income. I'm alright Jack. Selfish attitude bro.

Everyone is suffering all over the world. It's called making the best of a bad situation - putting a positive spin on it.

I hope you're doing a lot to help all the poor Thais with no income. They don't need your sympathy, but they could use your help.

That may have something to do with the airports and borders being closed

Yes, I wonder who was responsible for closing them, not the government surely, they are doing a wonderful job. :clap2::clap2:

There are simply no tourists.

Kind of hard to have many "tourists" when all incoming international flights for regular passengers have been cancelled and borders closed for quite some time.

That's part of the reason we apparently don't have hardly any CV cases here right now.

Precisely. I have a few friends in the USA who would be on airplane right now if it was open without any quarantine.

Can confirm. I want to GTFO of the USA ASAP.

Yea completely flattened is Pattaya, but with the borders closed I guess it will be fairly empty, although you would have to wonder where the esteemed farang residents are , like your good self??

As for the jeans and bags they are probably snides..

I’m here, just shopping on line and building my car. I really don’t feel the need to venture into town now, especially if theirs not much going on. People watching is decidedly boring when there’s no people, as the OP has discovered.

Covid has been a great circuit breaker for me. I no longer feel the need to head out drinking (if I could) and I’ve found the best ways to order nearly all my needs online. With the money I’ve saved my needs seemed to have increased substantially lol

I’m still happy to go to restaurants and eat street food to support the locals but I’m feeling my bell ringing, money splashing days will be very limited once the bar action does start up again, but heading out in the sun for a soft drink is t appealing right now

You are correct, many Thai ladies are well able to provide for themselves.

My wife is worth a damn sight more than me.

Mine is also worth a damn lot more than me NOW.

there will still be enough expats around to fill the bars so can't blame it all on tourism and airports closing

try going back on July 1st when alcohol is (possibly) served.

nobody will choose to have soft drinks in a bar over drinking alcohol at home (unless they have access to other drugs or there's secret women available upstairs)

The tourists can't come to Thailand because there are no flights. What does the government of Thailand have to do with it? I think they really do a lot but they can't do miracles.

There are no flights because the government closed the borders.

is that really so hard for you to understand??

So its the tourist fault that Thailand wont open its boarders not the government fault that cause thousands of people to loose their livelihood in Thailand.

The pandemic is not the fault of the government. The government has been doing whatever it can to make sure that the epidemic affects as few people in Thailand as possible, and it has been very successful in doing so. Unfortunately the justifiable measures taken by the authorities included the closing of the borders, thus unable to allow tourists. So why is this the fault of the government?

Can't blame you and that is the same feeling a few of my friends have there as well. They don't care if it isn't fully opened up here as there is enough to keep them happy and entertained here at the moment.

Are you mad?? The Thai government has closed Thailands borders, that's what they have got to do with it.

I just read that Australia doesn't want to open its borders until next year. Many other countries are also blocking traveling. It is not only Thailand. And you see that there are still Corona cases at the few people that come from abroad. Corona is no fun especially if you get really sick. People start to forget this.

Thailand has been losing tourists and expats for quite a while now, even before the "pandemic", mainly because of the strong baht and some immigration issues.

2019 39,797,406 Increase 4.24%[50]
2018 38,277,300 Increase 7.54%
2017 35,381,210 Increase 8.57%
2016 32,588,303 Increase 8.91%[51]
2015 29,881,091 Increase 20.44%
2014 24,809,683 Decrease 6.54%
2013 26,546,725 Increase 18.77%
2012 22,353,903 Increase 15.98%
2011 19,230,470 Increase 20.67%

Why make a false statement.  Just to be negative cause you hate the place?

It is not a false statement and I do not hate the place, or the people, but I do hate the government, they have driven a lot of tourists and expats away mainly because of their policies.

lets just open up the borders so anyone and families from Wuhan or Beijing can just come and mix with you and just holiday. Lets have Black lives protest so they can keep spreading COVID19 ...   LOL

Some folks here just don't care ....  and as such blame the government.

lets just blame everyone except China ......  lol

Just out of curiosity, where are you? You think it's the "tourism epicenter" of Thailand, but that doesn't tell me anything. Is it in Bangkok? Is it in Chiang Mai? Is it in Phuket? Is it in Hua Hin? I would have thought Patpong Rd is the "tourism epicenter," but what do I know?
