PHUKET: Police are investigating a rape complaint filed against a construction foreman who worked in Sakoo, the area just south of Phuket International Airport, for allegedly repeatedly raping a 15-year-old girl by deciving her that he had romantic feelings for the girl.

Thalang Police Deputy Chief Lt Col Anukul Nuket confirmed that the mother brought her 15-year-old daughter to Thalang Police Station to file the complaint on Wednesday (June 17).

The mother explained that the man, 50 years old and originally from Chiang Mai, was a foreman at a construction site where the mother worked.

what a nonsense thing to say and nothing to do with anything

as an adult he had sex with a minor - if it was forced at some point should be explored

I am not taking away the horrible crime that this 50 year old man have done. However, why is it that 15 year olds of today are so stupid that they really believe things like that?

Actually it is not nonsense at all. The law says that under 15 is just plain no. Between 15-18 consensual sex is permissible as long it is for romance or love with no financial incentives.  Hence the romantic feelings quoted gets round the law. If he paid her, it would be illegal. It comes down then as you say as to whether any force was used.

What you say is of course correct, non-payment for sex is the loop-hole. But the promise of money to help take care of matters such as certain gifts, internet money, clothes, shoes, make-up etc etc etc is a way around the payment for the actual act !

15 is legal in Thailand if he doesn't pay her for sex.

No , incorrect .

15 is only legal if the parents give consent to the relationship .

As the mother has made a complaint, she quite Cleary hasnt given consent

Which means its rape

You're confusing property law with criminal law.

Old matey obviously declined the request of a plump brown envelope and is now knee deep in the brown.

He paid her multiple times. But its a strange story they call it rape but she came back all the time. There might be pressure and stuff and its morally wrong but its still a strange case.

Im not .

15 -18 years old need their parents consent before getting into a sexual relationship .

I'm not sure if actual permission  needs to be given, but if the Parents make a complaint to the Police, its considered to be non consensual sex, which is rape

You're still wrong.

It's considered lowering the value of their property, and they can bring a civil action for compensation.

Police in such a case generally aren't interested unless they think they can get a share of the payout.

But he still won't be charged with rape.

What is the Thailand Age of Consent?

The Age of Consent in Thailand is 15 years old. The age of consent is the minimum age at which an individual is considered legally old enough to consent to participation in sexual activity. Individuals aged 14 or younger in Thailand are not legally able to consent to sexual activity, and such activity may result in prosecution for statutory rape or the equivalent local law.

Posted

Also, the Penal Code Amendment Act of 1997 Section 283 bis criminalizes committing an "indecent act" with anyone under 18 even with the consent of that person. It is a compoundable offense, meaning the parent or the adolescent may file charges against the other side if they later regret their own action. A high-profile example of this application of the law was a statutory rape charge filed against the lead singer of the Thai band Big Ass for allegedly having had sex with a (then) 16-year-old girl. The charge was filed by the girl after the singer refused to take responsibility for her baby. The singer has since been cleared of being the baby's father due to the results of a paternity test and he received 2 years suspended sentence.[100][101] This ostensibly makes the Thai unfettered age of consent 18.

One of the main reasons the world is so overpopulated is boys bsing girls to get laid. It isn't stupid but naive and gullible. When a 50  year old does it is a disturbed man taking advantage of a young girls naivete. Easily fooled and used. The man should get a long stay in a place he won't forget.

Would point out the Thai population is in decline.

Nobody here is overpopulating the world.

Would also point out your entire religion is based on an elderly man (God) impregnating a 14 year old virgin (Mary).

Maybe you should think a bit more before you post nonsense.

Are you quoting my post, or did you just chose one based on the Eeny, meeny, miny, moe principle?

Eeeeh, where have you ever seen God in flesh as an elderly man? Guess it´s time for you to read the good book again.

Consent = permission.

If they change their mind the next day, that consent is removed

If permission / consent is given, it can't be removed, please show me your research. What a lot if nonsense.

Well done, but it does not talk about the parents giving consent at any stage. Regardless, whatever the horrible <deleted> in the story did, it was just plain wrong and I think we can all agree on that. Cheers.

In the second sentence at the end of the sentence it says the Parents can press charges, if they didnt consent to the relationship .
