Trouble is not knowing precisely what has been said, only what has been reported.  Elsewhere the group of 2,000 registered are described as "....along with 2,000 foreigners waiting to return to their Thai families, and other expats"

it depends how they count. wouldn't trust any figures coming out of certain counties

What about the $100,000 insurance that was earlier mentioned? Is that still a requirement, will Chinese tourists need to have this, and more to the point, will I?

Hmm, no category for "testing out BJ bars in BKK for business opportunites", obviously not seriously interested in attracting businessman 555

For the medical tourists, are you required to leave after your procedure is done?

Do you really need to ask that, of course you will as not a regular tourist.

3. Tourists under the travel bubble. Dr Taweesin said that the target countries are China, Japan and South Korea, which are presently trying to contain the virus.

Another wave of infections imported from China along with the associated lockdown is heading our way.

Everyone will then know who to blame, where it came from and specifically who let it happen.

We know how little it takes to trigger a full on lockdown with a useless and ridiculous curfew here.

If the government are to be believed the number of infections so far has been tiny which must surely leave the population 99.99% vulnerable to this virus so they should not be letting anyone in from a country with any cases.

Register as a medical tourist.

Booking with dentist: 1 filling and a scale and polish????

Seriously?

Less than 200 cases in 10 days in Beijing...  (USA ~25'000 cases yesterday only!)

in a city of 20+ millions people...

in a country of ~1'400'000'000 people...

A lot of noise for very few cases well controlled... IMHO.

4. Medical and wellness tourists (around 30,000 have registered).

What the hell is a "wellness tourist"?

What a farse... It just proves that the higher powers in Thailand have got brain cell deficiencies.

I think you mean Australia, not Austria. Austria had at least double of what Australia has had as infected.

Wellness tourism is travel for the purpose of promoting health and well-being through physical, psychological, or spiritual activities.

No doubt there are despicable people in all groups but not 100% of everyone.

Wouldn't you say so?

that's a multi medical tourist.

First go to dentist to do a scale and polish.

Afterwards book an appointment to polish something else.

have those successful european countries closed the borders to the less successful european countries?

no point in allowing austrians to travel to thailand, if the austrians allow italians entry into austria.

I have/know a few ones which need fillings.

Idk, could work if you write a very long letter about why this one dentist in BKK is the perfect dentist to clean and polish your teeth lol. They might be bored while reading half of your letter and just approve you as a medical tourist LOL.

Can I go to Thailand for medical and wellness purposes to cure Covid-19?

/sarcasm off

Unless of  course they have already had a  weaker strain giving them some immunity?

Being theoretically allowed to come back, and being able to get back are not the same thing at all.

Not including retirees is very unfair as many of us have committed to Thailand and are now ignored.

Even if including any insurance requirements would be a hard hit for those of us who are, to be polite, a bit long in the tooth.

A little bit of pragmatic flexibility is required. I am in Thailand at the moment and do not need  to leave, but would like to take a couple of trips. That I can't get back in to my home is ridiculous.
