‘Back to basics’ tourism urged to restart the economy

Trying to think of the last time a 'new' disease originated in the UK, Europe or the USA.

Nope, Spanish flu maybe .......... but that was 100 years back.

The Spanish Flu ‘could’ have originated in China, France or the UK.

It didn’t originate in Spain. As Spain was neutral in WW1 there was no media blackout, it was Spain who was widely reporting on the virus (hence the name the Spanish Flu) - the Spanish called it the ‘French Flu’.

Scientists are unsure of the source but have suggested the birthplace of the Virus was the UK, France or China.

Thus: Even back as far as the 1918 Spanish Flu outbreak, China is not quite ‘off the hook’ !!!!!!

Same for Cambodia, special ticket prices for Angkor Wat announced, but locals get in free ...... who do they think will buy the tickets? I guess you don't need to be all that bright to get government posts in Asia.

Don,t forget the $3,000 deposit on arrival, and the small likelihood of getting it back ????

You do realise this thread is about Phuket?    There are no fields and hence no burning.   Methinks you're confusing it with Chiang Mai/Rai.

was probably wondering where the beach was...

Not to mention touring the most polluted city in the world and the annual field burning extravaganza where you can inhale smoke non-stop 24/7 for months on end. Good stuff.

Look at you, being all geographically challenged...

The “white paper” noted that industries that should be developed in parallel with tourism included the marina industry, education industry, health and wellness industry, tuna export industry, local food industry, and sports and events.

Now that's some pure comedy gold...

So the high end wealthy tourists are to become the new basic, then.

Cloud cuckoo land.

They don't have to be bright, that's obvious, but they do have to have money, and plenty of it.

Not just Phuket.

whatever happened to the TAT plan to use pokemon go to boost tourism ?

i was always expecting to receive my pokemon go book when arriving in swampy, but never did.????‍♂️

Well whatever happens, if old Tin mines become a popular attraction then you can be sure that a new old tin mine will pop up next to another new old tin mine alongside a laundry beside a massage parlour and not to forget the ubiquitous 7/11's

international flights are not expected to get rocking for quite same time plus airbus has just laid off 1700 workers as they dont expect any demand for new planes for some years

perhaps you couldn,t see it because of the smoke.

Who the hell is going to want to come for a holiday when the first two weeks are to be spent locked down in quarantine in a hotel with bloated charges?

When you're dead, you don't know you're dead. The pain is felt by others...........The same thing happens when you're stupid.
