PHUKET: Minister for Tourism and Sport Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn has confirmed that Phuket is to be one of the pilot destinations to be proposed to the Cabinet to be promoted for “travel bubble” tourists.

Such tourists will be exempt from 14-day quarantines, but will be restricted to visiting specified areas, Mr Phiphat said yesterday (July 14), reported state news agency National News Bureau of Thailand (NNT).

The three pilot areas to be proposed to Cabinet will be all Southern Thailand provinces: Phuket; Krabi, especially Phi Phi island; and Surat Thani, especially Koh Samui and Koh Pha-ngan islands.

This is the first positive move. More will follow once this proves a success. If they are gonna get anywhere near their targets they got no choice but to go along these lines.

The testing will be a pain,  it at least there no quarantine or ridiculous insurance demands.

And this is for tourists from 60 day covid free countries ? Kinda ironic if someone did catch covid from the Egyptian ...

The article I read last week on the BP said 2 week quarantine and then free to go where ever you want after testing negative. But it seems to change all the time, Pattaya was included but not mentioned this time.

The only bubble is the one between this guys ears !

The only " bubble" i'm interested in are in a soapy massage bathtub...

please load me into a rocket and shoot me into outer space never to return to this insane asylum we call earth.

Has anyone heard more about this $100,000 USD insurance policy covering Covid 19

After the reaction of the public yesterday regarding the 2 cases, I don't see any chance for a "bubble" until a vaccine is available.

Let's hope they will at least expand and facilitate the quarantine entry.
