kingstonkid
I do not want to hear about your favorite bar or bar girl. What I am looking for is what are the charities that people truly donate to and trust in thailand. I know a lot of people give money and food to the monks. But are there other charities that you feel are not corrupt that people should could donate to.
Pilotman
None in Thailand, but I donate to 'Doctors Without Frontiers', two UK Military charities and the UK British Legion.
Popular Post Matzzon
Matzzon´s Beer Fund. Guaranteed to be without any corruption or embezzlement. Sometimes I even have to add some extra money, and all goes directly to beer. You might think that is not charity at all. You can´t be more wrong. I use the fund for buy and drink beer. Below you see some of my contributions. I make the beer companies maintain a standing where no one is losing their livelihood I also contribute to giving away all my empty boxes and beer bottles to people living with collecting garbage. You see. 1 1

1FinickyOne
I just visited a Mission run home for unwed mothers in Doi Saket, named Wildflowers.. run by a very kindly nun... they have a small subsistence farm and teach the young ladies crafts to help them become self supporting. I bought some soaps and such and also made a direct donation... I thought this a worthy charity but mostly I give to individuals either for school or people with troubles who need a boost for rent or raising children...

Popular Post OneMoreFarang
From time to time I give some money to people in need who I know. And maybe to people who play an instrument at the market or on the street. Or maybe students at the BTS. I only give them money when I get the impression they need it and deserve it. I don't give any money to "charities" with expensive and inflated administrations. And I don't give any money to monks. They don't need money. If possible I give "beggars" food instead of money. Unfortunately too many rich people in Thailand, and probably in other parts of the word, take too much money which should be for the poor. I remember many years ago with the Tsunami in Thailand. People I know collected donations and bought a truck full of things for people in need. And they drove the truck to Phuket. And then the local mafia explained to them that they can't do that. "Leave the truck with us."

That's a bit rude in my opinion I am a pensioner living in OZ now, I don't have any family I still donate to 'Doctors Without Frontiers' Red Cross,Salvation Army and animal protection. No point saving any money (which I don't have a lot of) and lose it all when I kick the bucket.

Better to give to family, of which you have none and he has. Family, or an anonymous charity. I know which one I would probably give to. Many thanks for letting me watch someone undermine their own position. It doesn't happen often.
Popular Post bfc1980
Operation Smile Thailand. They're a very worthy charity and the results of their work are visible immediately. With some charities, the money is swallowed and only a very small % of it actually goes to where it's needed without any tangible results. However, with OST all of your donations go towards paying for the operations. I've raised over 400,000 baht for them over the past few years (doing marathons and organising other events through work) and have volunteered on some of their missions to rural parts of Thailand. I was even able to watch a few cleft lip and skin graft operations from inside the OR. If there's ever a charity that people should donate to, this is it. Popular Post Katipo
I have been supporting www.baanunrak.org in Sangklaburi for over 10 years. Completely transparent and no corruption. I just got back from a visit there last week. It is a home that supports and educates over 120 children, many of whom even get scholarships through university. They are over 50% self sufficient through their growing their own vegetables and farming animals (80 goats if I remember correctly). They also look after some single mothers who have been abandoned or ostracised for a variety of reasons. It truly is a wonderful place. 2

DFPhuket
In this Covid era, I have been giving directly to a few people who are struggling to have enough money to eat or pay the rent. There are many Filipino musicians in Phuket, for example, who are out of work and don't/can't go home due to the situation there. They are doing live Facebook concerts with a link to send tips. I've been sending what I would have spent on drinks and tips in "the old days."
JWRC
Bamboo orphanage school on the Kanchanaburi/Myanmar border. Run by a wonderful lady, English I think. she can have up to 70 odd kids. You can sponsor a child for a very minimal yearly amount, or just make a one off donation. No corruption here. how she actually manages to feed and educate everybody I don't know, but she does an amazing job and really appreciates any help she can get. 1
Bender Rodriguez
with all these question, one could really PROFILE a person if they want to charity money have sticky fingers, 95 percent disappear for working costs like the 1 million dollar salary of the CEO, the expensive cars for executives, meetings, exclusive hotels, etc... and the people that collect money here, most will end up in their pocket too so I told my kid, if you know a poor kid in your school, you can maybe help that one, as the money will hopefully do some good, or some other person you see in need I feel disgusted that those money collectors even dare to approve my underage child to try to extort some money, just because the child is half farang Edited August 18, 2020 by Bender Rodriguez

SePl
Only animals and dogs especially in Thailand. No money to anyone, just buy and deliver to them useful things as 20kg bags of food. because I do not trust anyone about money. When you give to big NGO 80% of the money that you give goes for the NGO itself and not for the cause, so I think only idiots give to large NGOs.
rwill
There is an orphanage we help out with sometimes. Take the kids out to dinner and such. I also sometimes stop and give money to people as we are driving around. Mostly to elderly people I see pulling carts around looking for stuff to recycle.
