I'm not missing the tourists...

They can't predict the future these guys..  cos they can't make a logical decision..

First guy to thumb-suck a realistic scenario of 4 to 5 years, then he goes stupid and says 60% maybe comes back next year... that's 24 million!!

No idea whatsoever

With the extreme cowardice, timidity, paranoia, fear mongering and lack of planning and vision, on the part of this horribly hapless administration, it could be many years.

Next year. 20% max. 2022. Maybe 40%. Maybe. It will NEVER return to its previous levels. Not in our lifetimes. The longer they wait, the more Thailand will be forgotten, and left in the dust.

The world can live without Thailand. But, can Thailand live without the world? Are there any lessons to be learned here? Pipat? Anutin? Prayuth? Anyone home?

You missed out their ranks, Pipat? Anutin? Prayuth? You are not being very respectful to the soldiers who are trying to run the country, are you?

wonder if the visa laws will become more favorable, nah that would be too logical......

Visa laws have almost zero impact regarding tourists. Visa rules impact long-term residents such as retirees, those with family or those in business.

What are they actually doing? Any ideas? Protecting us against whom?

For a start, they sit around tables making rules up for us to obey, the only thing is no one bothers to make sure that we obey them, but it keeps the soldiers happy giving out orders that they were not elected to give.

And what happens to any of these predictions if there's another out break next year or the year after etc

Hopefully everyone comes to their senses stops panicking and gets on with living life. Like we have lived and continue to live with millions  of other viruses, pathogens, germs, disease, starvation and war.

Please tell me one country where it is easier to cross the border to have 4 weeks holidays.  Most tourists will make shorter stays, while there are easy ways to get visas for 2 months, with a possibility of extensions.

To put it in a nutshell: it is preposterous to say that Thai visa regulations hamper tourism.

Readers, Thailand got money.  Don’t be so blind of your surroundings. They use these high numbers knowing that they got cheap labor to do the work. They need to start rebuilding which will take 5 years and they can open the doors to a new Thailand. The poor Is going to suffer but in the long term, they will get over it as they always have.

The Chinese are moving in slowly as plan. There a lot happening and this is the time for Thailand to make everything good again.

it’s just that simple.....

No one knows worldwide what the future holds.

Has The Kingdom even witnessed a 1st wave?

I hope these zero cases are correct and I hope the zero cases continue.

The problem will arise once the Chinese have bought all the old bars and businesses.

Thailand is "putting all it's eggs in one basket" by encouraging the Chinese.

Look at what has happened in Lao,,s!! Hardly a westerner in site, businesse failing and a complete reliance on the Chinese money. A backpacker as rare as rocking horse s**t.

I just hope someone stops the inevitable happening in The Kingdom.

I know just the man for the job...........

Another grand-poobah talking head spewing off whole round numbers. He has no clue. One year of flooding people in and get the girlies all dolled up with lots of free booze and his advice will be delirious. Too many of these misinformed gurus of gurus.

More reasonable than "show up at the border and we'll let you in"?

For the vast majority of tourists, that's about as reasonable as it gets.  It's only a very thin slice of those 40 million souls that need something more favorable.

Other countries are in the shape as Thailand, they are either on lockdown or out of work because of the CCP virus. It will be a while before any tourist comes back. Remember the second wave of virus has not hit here yet. The first round from what I have read Thai only checked .03% of the people.
