PHUKET: Police have arrested a 29-year-old former bank employee in Chalong for setting up his own online access to a bank customer’s account and siphoning off more than B100,000 to pay for online games.

Officers arrested Parin ‘Ball’ Pajantabut, 29, at a house in Soi Ban Song Thai, off Chao Fa West Rd, Chalong, yesterday (Aug 25), explained Lt Col Thapakorn Hanumat, Deputy Chief of the Investigation Division at Police Cyber Taskforce (PCT), in Bangkok.

Parin was wanted under an arrest warrant issued by the Phuket Provincial Court on Monday for three offences: fraud, unauthorised access to a computer system and entering false information into a computer system which is likely to cause damage to another person.

Probably a good thing that gambling's illegal in Thailand. I know how addictive it can be.

I am not convinced that the guy at the table is the perpetrator. No one is pointing at him.

A good lawyer would get him off on that technicality......????????

And that is the reason there are no casinos in Thailand, unlike in neighbouring countries. That is what the authorities claim, anyway. It has nothing at all to do with the fact that 'untouchables' run the illegal casinos, and legalizing them would cut into their 'winnings'.

Why bother to even report this if the bank and branch he worked at isn't disclosed?

How would that help anything or anyone? You think all the staff at that bank are ripping customers off so we should be warned?

No, I don't think all are bad.  But, it would be good to know which bank's procedures allowed this to happen.

The problem of committing pertinent information from a story is commonplace.  Why?  Is it some kind of coverup or just the constant desire to save face?

Yeah, it's the only country where people play games online, he wasn't gambling.

Because it falls into the category of news.  What difference would it make if the bank (where he doesn't work) was identified?

Why not?  Why would you think that the rest of the staff at the bank that he used to work for are ripping-off customers?

The bank that employed him is part of the story.

The bank that employed him in the past (he didn't work for the bank when he was arrested) is part of the investigation, obviously, but identifying it makes no difference whatsoever to the story, to the outcome or to anyone asking for that information here.

*Hi Tea*

As an apparent new user of Thai Visa, you seem to be adamant about not know the details of a story.  That would seem to make intelligent comments difficult.
