Police probe ordered after video clip of alleged senior officer gambling in den

Metropolitan Police Region 6 chief Pol Major-General Methee Rakphan has ordered the Pathumwan Station to investigate whether a man caught on video gambling at a den is indeed a Region 6 inspector, Royal Thai Police deputy spokesman Pol General Krisana Pattanacharoen said.

 

The video clip, which has been circulating on social media, appears to portray a man resembling a Region 6 inspector, who is seen playing a high-low dice game at the den.

 

Although the den’s location has yet to be disclosed, netizens have speculated that it might be in central Bangkok.

 

“If the man in the video is found to be a police officer, he will face severe disciplinary and criminal action,” Krisana said.

 

“National Police chief Pol General Chakthip Chaijinda has always emphasised to all police divisions that it is unacceptable for officers to break the law and those who do will face severe punishment,” he added. “If any officers are found guilty of breaking the law, their superiors too will face disciplinary punishment for negligence to do with their subordinates.”

What an idiot. The first rule of being a successfully bent cop is that you can’t let it go public. And the fact that this has gone public will at least triple the bribe he will have to pay to clear his name and keep his job.

Most gambling dens are known to police, who for a payment to top-up their meager salaries allow them to continue to operate.

Corruption is rampant in the land where money means everything.

How else is an officer expected to pay for his next promotion...

Well he definitely must have some big balls in his sack to be such an idiot, but then gambling is addictive and viewed as a way by those who do it to become rich. Instead they become more broken and poorer over time which leads to more corrupt behavior and abuse.

I disagree, gambeling and drugs (alcohol included) is not bad for the majority of people. Most people can keep habbits like this under control. 

 

The problem is how to protect the small minority that cant. In the Netherlands some rules are in place. Casinos are state opperated and hold registers of gambling addicts and ban entry.

 

Its sad that the majority always has to suffer because of a minority that cant handle drugs and gambling.

 

I dont pretend i can find a perfect solution there will always be victims. But gambling and drug and alcohol use has been with us forever. Better to legalise as the battles have been lost. Better spend the resources that are now spend on suppression on helping the minority that would have problems with legalisation.

Gambling will not be allowed in Thailand because the corruption would be out of control.

Not to mention the new avenue for Chinese money laundering... Sihanoukville a case in point.
