Ashen faced civil servant looks as her Mercedes Benz burns in rush hour traffic

Fire services and Klong Luang police were called to Pahonyothin Road outbound in Pathum Thani yesterday evening at 7.30 after a Mercedes Benz burst into flames.

The road was closed and firefighters extinguished the flames after 20 minutes.

Watching on was a pale faced Ratanawan, 39, a forensic science officer at the Justice Ministry who was on her way home to Klong 1.

She gave no further details.

A good Samaritan who had been following her waved for her to stop after seeing the engine on fire.

What appeared to be a motorcycle taxi guy with a fire extinguisher first tackled the flames, though there was no mention of this in the Sanook story.

Looking at the tail lights and the wheels and the body shape it doesn't appear to be a recent model .....

she'll just go buy a new one.

And her qualifications from work may assist her to decipher what caused the fire.

At least she is well placed to investigate the  cause !

Is "lack of regular maintenance and inspection" even available as a checkoff item to a forensic science officer at the Justice Ministry?

Benz! Would be interesting to know what her monthly salary is??? As opposed to her monthly income, that is!

Being that it is a circa 2004 E class, it would be a very inexpensive car to purchase.  This one is for sale for ฿359,000.  Now she is probably aware that a “cheap” Mercedes can end up being very expensive.

To maintain payments on the car some Benz owners reduce fuel costs by paying unlicensed hole-in-the-wall shops to install an LPG conversion. Just saying......?

Why would someone FOLLOWING her need to tell her to stop because of a fire one metre IN FRONT of her.

Yeah, why would you need transparency in a developing country known for rampant corruption.

Best let them keep it all hidden from the public.

True but don't you think there should be a lil bit more suspicion then just an (possible)expensive car. Just think that people would check everything based on almost no evidence.

I get you I hate corruption but before you can go after someone there should be a lil bit more proof then just this.

Never lose that GREAT sense of humor, ok!

I certainly have not lost my sense of humour but suggest you keep your nose out of things that do not concern you and stop trying to be clever
