Yeah, I'd say most of them are history now. Probably only 2-3 of them still going (assuming any of them are even open now).

But not to worry. Up until the bars were all shut last March, it seems for every place that closed, 2 more opened up. 3 of the places noted in the image were owned by the same guy. (Owned as in he held the leases on them for decades.) He gave up 2 of them when the leases came due and the land owners decided to increase the cost. He owned another one on the list as well, a long, long time ago (I believe he was the first owner of it in fact).

The Sea became a sports bar. (I really can't see how they've been able to stay open as they never seemed to have any customers.) Champions moved locations (they were in the old Blues Factory location the last time I looked but that was a while ago). The Lucky Stars bars (1, 2 and 3) are still there - for now. The land owner supposedly wants to put a shopping mall in that area stretching from Walking Street to behind the Marine Hotel but nothing seems to be happening on that front for the last couple of years.

Back around what, 2004 or 2005 I recall counting all the go-go bars on Walking Street (and the side sois leading off of it) and worked out that if you spent 1 hour in each place, starting at 8pm and going to 3 am (7 per night) it would take 6 nights to hit them all (56 go-gos in total).

Last I heard (pre-shut down) there were something like 75 ? Plus all the places outside of Walking Street.

It will probably be a few years before things get back to some kind of "normal" down there though.

The last time I passed, it was only the front bar that was open, and it did not look like it would last much longer.

The Scandinavian Bar that is mentioned on this list was on Beach Road, and is where Hooters is now situated.

these all sound familiar. what year was this? 2002? back in the days when i had to regularly visit a barbers shop.

Unless you are Norwegian, getting Norwegian wood is not necessarily a good thing.

Ah, I remember the Sleazy opening. That time must count (for the likes of us) as the farang boom days.

Surviving would be a more realistic description on their current situation, certainly not going strong.
