From the article, another "... officer died in an accident along the same stretch of road in August last year, when the police pickup truck he was traveling in also slid off the road and struck a roadside power pole."

Police pickups and wet roads don't go well together.  RIP RTP.

They are to clever to wear a seat belt, so intelligent they can drive while texting, can have a small child in the front seat unsecured, can carry a baby under one arm while riding a motorcycle. Proudly ride a new motorbike without the means to buy an appropriate safety helmet. These people invented the car and the motorcycle and anything else you can think of.

Will never listen to a hot-head non-Thai, although Thai isn’t a race at all but a amalgam of Chinese, Malay, Indian and all and sundry,  not that many are aware or would ever consider it.

Every properly trained driver knows water is a natural lubricant that affects a vehicles handling. Not these plebs, nothing worth knowing hasn’t been mastered by these non-indigenous beings.

Wet slippery roads, no weight in the back of the truck, speeding, sealt belt questionable etc.  No knowledge of needing to slow down to the conditions. Unfortunately the same thing will repeat itself over and over.

Same goes for a high percentage of any vehicle in Thailand.

Unfortunately there is little common sense in Thailand, and no science training in school.  They have no idea how water even works, in a country in which it rains half the year~it's quite shocking really.

Why bother?

Set this as an English major undergraduate essay, a few years ago.

Some inspired responses and some bemused offerings.

Troublesome according to some. Also the view of my inexperienced boss, who promptly moved me to another department. Same salary, far less work to do.

????????

Lack of maintenance on vehicles here is a serious problem maybe a possibility of worn tires.  Also one must be particularly careful for the back end of a pickup hydroplaning in wet conditions.  RIP

I drive the same vehicle and on the original Bridgestone tyres it was easy to spin the back wheels driving in a straight line, the grip in the wet was terrible.
