I see no backsliding. I see an ameturish attempt to paint the breakdown in talks as coming from the EU.

I can see your logic there but the fact is he would try to blame the EU even if he had stuck to his deadline.

And the Brexit faithful would believe him.

So I dont believe that is the reason for him backsliding.

Regardless of the outcome of trade talks Johnson and the Brexiteers are always going to blame the EU.

For everything.

With the Good Ship Brittania drifting further and further away from the EU its only going to get easier and easier for them.

Should we not start thinking how to avoid their "coming back" if the "sh&%@t" hit the fan on Paradise Island ? ????

If one apply Thai logic, it is indeed.

No E.U. = no Brexit needed, no mess.

I don't think it will be shown to be a mistake, but given the EU negotiation antics, we will enjoy a new renaissance and the Remainers will be proved mistaken.

What nonsense are you trying to twist from a legal comic now? What sort of tyrannical dictatorship gives the whole electorate a referendum? Once the majority result is being delivered to the country the individuals have lost it. Only in courts with corrupt judges could any individual challenge that his rights outweigh that of the majority. I suppose you would like to take that to Tony Blair's Supreme Court, where you could get the right for answer you?

No surprise there, highlights exactly what little respect the hardliners have for the judiciary and the rule of law.

Not 52% now. More and more Brexiteers are realising the consequences of their vote.

More and more Brexiteers are realising what the EU is about, well, they now realise the EU doesn't want the UK to have its country back in its entirety.

It is probably way more than 52% now.

You tell me, to sort out Brexit, why did our present government have a landslide election victory, a victory that destroyed the Lib Dems and their promise to REMAIN in the EU ?

Please, do not post columns from The Independent or The Guardian..... Thank you..????

Mays deal was Brino remember?

Thats what Johnson is going to come up with.

So why is May making waves if it's her deal...?

The "Good Ship Britannia" will be very busy keeping the EU in check for fishing in British waters, just like others are taking care of the Chinese looters elsewhere......????

PS. Plus the EU countries will still have to use English as their global communication language, now will that hurt....????

I wish I knew what the E.U. and the U.K. really want.

As per now I only read biased opinions, claiming  by each followers, as the only truth.

When I read a post mentioning something like " We all know that...", I start to be suspicious about the uprightness of the content.

She is making waves? Think she is pretty much ignored by the right wing government we now have.

That's also an opinion, many agree and many don't.

We will have to wait & see if :

-the Remainers can agree that they make a mistake, if indeed all becomes good and better.

-the Leavers can agree that they make a mistake if unfortunately it not becomes better.

-the hard Brexiteers will  not blame everything on the E.U., if the outcome is not what they expected.

Agree with the sentiment but the reality is there are no remainers/leavers anymore, only the hard line anti EU.

The continual rhetoric that the so called remainers refuse to accept the result of a democratic vote is nothing more than a myth perpetrated by the hard liners to satisfy their own egos.

It is a bit like saying the anti euthanasia brigade would change their way of thinking if it was legalised, did making abortion legal change the minds of the anti abortionists.

The government legalised brexit but it doesn't change anything, those that thought it was a mistake just see the future in a different light.

I was trading with Europe before the single market and it cannot be denied that introduction of the single market was a greater boost to UK business than anything the UK government has ever done. The removal will not bode well for UK consumers.

Only because the United States speaks a version of English.

The UK became irrelevant a long time ago.

I think French will be used more frequently, despite English will certainly remain the Lingua Franca.

I don't have any idea what the hard line anti E.U. represent in numbers in the real world.

We have here 3-4 "Hard Brexiteers" opposed to the same number of what I would call "Fervent Remainers".

Well Uncle Arthur I see you managed to post your favorite picture of young Farage again.

Nothing anti British about it. Its just a fact that the UK ceased to be a world power after WW2.

It is unfortunate that such facts make you feel sad but whats to be done?
