I’ve backpacked through Southpark Asia for years… now i feel quietly pushed out
I understand what you are saying. I first came here in 1964, then again in 1967 and twice more between 1973-4. I too backpacked through Asia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan for 10 consecutive years for one month each year and you are right. It was cheap. But it couldn't last. I've now been living here in Thailand since 2005 and this is my 20th year living here. Even in the beginning, things were very cheap, but slightly more expensive than those occasions before living here. Now, I see prices have rocketed and of course, Thailand is more expensive in many things, but inexpensive in others. Time and tide doesn't stop for us. It's progress. I'm just as happy here today as I was when my feet hit the ground in Bangkok way back in 1964. I've never regretted it - moved with the times and I am still careful with my money. It's the way things are. Long may they last................! -

Medical Worker Arrested in Hà Nam for Alleged Sexual Assault on Patient
File photo for reference only In Hà Nam Province, a medical worker has been taken into custody on allegations of sexually assaulting a female patient at the Hà Nội - Đồng Văn General Hospital in Duy Tiên Town. The arrest of Vũ Duy Cương, 34, follows a complaint lodged on Monday, according to local police reports. The incident reportedly occurred during a medical examination, sparking widespread outrage, particularly on social media. A Facebook post, believed to be from the victim, described the event as an extremely traumatic experience. While details are still emerging, unverified claims online suggest that the assault may have taken place during a sedated stomach endoscopy. Authorities remain actively involved in the investigation, working to gather all necessary evidence to support potential legal proceedings. The case has drawn significant attention, highlighting concerns about patient safety and the need for stringent safeguards in medical settings. The response on social media reflects widespread anger and concern over the incident, as the community awaits further developments in the investigation, reported Vietnam News. -- 2025-04-16 -

I would have expected more voices in her defense from those saying, "It's a man- and it is not against the law for men to show their breasts." Actually, I expect crickets. -
