Alcohol and drugs can make people do stupid things, in this case one girl is dead and 5 party members involved sentenced to 5 years in jail.

Be careful out there if you bring a drunk lady from the bar home with you and she pass out and die while you are sleeping.

5 years in Thai prison is not what you want in LOS.

Another nail in the coffin for Thailand as tourist destination?

I think if you called the police immediately you found the woman was dead and allowed an investigation to take place with forensics, you would have a good chance of not doing any time, assuming they find no evidence of your involvement.

But if you start moving a dead body around like a guilty party would, then you are going to attract suspicion. And you will be breaking several laws (not reporting a death, falsifying evidence - in the USA you would get a lot more jail time as they would be able to add conspiracy to the mix).

I've learned to get drunk while locked at home in my room.

Drinking alone, it can't be beat.

Drinking alone can also have its dangers - a depressed drunk can be a danger to himself/herself and anybody who gets in his way/her way.

They won’t serve the whole jail time here I think it’s like half if you started trouble while you’re in jail

Another mind numbing post! Are you implying that if you are sentenced to say 10 years, if you "start trouble" while you are in jail, your sentence will be halved to 5 years?

With a name like "Nam Oon" I can only imagine how he'll be received in prison.

He'll be passed around for the whole stretch, just as he deserves.

Ah. So you are certain the Royal Thai Police are fully competent and the courts are totally honest. It's good to finally see someone at TV not complaining about how corrupt and stupid everything Thai is.

Don't get me wrong, it's really sad she died, but I'm not sure it's anyone's fault except her own.

Nobody held her down and forced the alcohol into her.

And you know that for a fact, right?

Like I previously posted, she was messaging her pals, boasting about how much she was drinking.

Copies of the messages are floating around online.

Women want their independence, and demand the right to make their own choices.

And the danger that comes with those choices.

If a woman decides to drink a litre of Vodka, who are you to tell her no?

It's the real women haters that want to restrict and limit women's freedom.

But many posters are locked in the past when women were property to be protected.

I'm sorry you can't understand that, but I believe in equality, while you deny women that equality.

As for the personal insult, another on ignore.

Not really "mind numbing". It seems obvious that he left the "never" out. So more of a simple mistake then.

Each was sentenced to 5 years and 4 months, and must pay Bt748,660 compensation.

So, by paying the family this amount of money is compensation for her life? Life has very little value in Thailand.

I hope everyone is aware that there are CCTVs EVERYWHERE in Thailand.

Ya and most are under 'maintenance' when it suits the Police.

He took her home to play Bingo?  I bet he ***** her then she passed away and he's thinking 'whoops'. What does the autopsy say?  sex or no sex?

I see your point about the "simple mistake", and call me pedantic if you want, but people should learn to check their posts before hitting the submit button.

Too many times a post becomes diificult to interpret, and sometimes - as in this case - the message becomes the opposite of what it should be.

Incidentally, I think that if one pleads guilty to the charge before you even go to jail/are sentenced, the sentence can be almost halved - not sure about changing your mind once you're inside! (I believe a "King's Pardon" can be given in some cases)
