Local officials have drawn up plans to catch more than 160 wild boar that have become a menace for the residents of Muang district in Chumphon province.

Provincial livestock department officers, the local national park chief and other local government representatives are collaborating to solve the problem of the high population of wild boar in the city.

They are planning to catch all 160 boar and release them in a new habitat. Somsak Chumphol, Moo Pad village headman, has been tasked with finding people who would like to adopt the boar.

The scavenger habits of the boar have led to the city suffering from unpleasant odour and pollution of water, which is affecting fisheries in the area.

The animals are also causing accidents and traffic jams as they are usually running around in the city searching for food.

... 555, yes, they'll find them a new habitat, as in 'slow rotating spike on nice bbq', I know I would ... ????

We had a mum and nine babies appeared from nowhere here in Samui a couple of months back. Used to tear open the rubbish bags after the nearby night market. Even had locals feeding them. Became a  bit of a novelty.

Little by little they have all disappeared. Now only three young ones left that turn up on night market days to forage through the rubbish. I could see that adult males could be a problem.

Definitely an appointment with a barbie is in order, or bacon or sausages.

Had excellent wild-boar meat in Italy.

Depends...

The term wild boar, or wild pig, is sometimes used to refer to any wild member of the Sus genus.

Back to the OP, with thousands of Thais without jobs and going hungry because of Covid, I don't know why they don't kill 2 birds with one big BBQ.

Or fattening them up for the spit.  Seems a pretty good/ cheap way to get rid of table scraps.  Convert them to bacon.
