Ten illegal Chinese immigrants arrested in Sa Kaeo

Thailand's Ta Phraya task force in conjunction with other agencies arrested ten illegal Chinese immigrants and a Thai driver near the Thai - Cambodian border in Khok Soong district.

The move comes as Thailand cracks down on illegal immigrants crossing through Thailand's porous natural borders amid the coronavirus pandemic.

None of the Chinese - aged between 22 and 46 had papers. Arrested along with them was a local Thai driver named Likhasit, aged 46 who had been paid 2,000 baht to transport them. A Toyota Fortuner was taken into evidence.

The authorities had been told by an informant that the Chinese were being transported between Chachoengsao and Sa Kaeo in a Mitsubishi Pajero.

This was then met at a branch of Tesco Lotus by a Fortuner that took the human cargo to the border area.

What were they doing here if now trying to get back without papers?

With the assistance of Thai help, other countries call it trafficking.

It is quite possible they are unemployed workers from Chinese casinos across the border in Burma and/or Laos. There have been similar recent arrests as reported in Thai media.. It looks as if this group were in the process of being smuggled over the border, possibly into Cambodia where there is a large Chinese community. Thank you Thailand for these arrests and preventing the possible spread of Covid-19 into Cambodia.

Lot of large illegal groups of Chinese being arrested lately ????

A Fortuner is a nice big vehicle, but 10 Chinese plus the driver??? They must have been hanging out of the windows, lol.
