245 police officers have been fired for misconduct this year

The Royal Thai Police (RTP) has fired 245 police officers for misconduct since January, while 53 were discharged and 44 were suspended from services, RTP spokesman Pol Maj-General Yingyos Thepjamnong told the press after a meeting at the police headquarters in Bangkok on Thursday.

 

The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha.

 

Yingyos said the meeting discussed general issues related to police work as well as statistics on punishment of police officers who have been found guilty of misconduct.

 

“In October, 23 police officers were punished, 15 were fired, four were discharged while four were suspended,” he said.

 

“Statistics from January until now indicates that so far 342 police officers have been punished for misconduct, 245 were fired, 53 were discharged and 44 were suspended.

 

“The prime minister also discussed the welfare and benefits for police officers and law enforcement during the political protests,” added Yingyos. “However, the appointment of senior officers at deputy commander and inspector levels for this year was not discussed at the meeting.”

Fired means terminated/discharged.  Did they loose their pensions, and why were they taken off duty in the first place, how many times had they been suspended before they were finally given the heave ho?

So do they count them as fired if they resigned in-lieu of termination in order to keep their pensions like the police in the US are given a choice of in some cases.

230000 police officers here! So 0.11% get fired coz "dirty"! I have meet every one of them! I always hit that 0.11% when police stop me! Really sht luck!

Fired means they lose their pension and civil service benefits. Terminated means they keep their pension and benefits.

And how many have been arrested, and jailed? Zero? First of all, the RTP at it's inception seems to have been created with a status quo from the government. We will NOT pay you a living wage, but you have a franchise, and the limit of your income is based solely on your own creativity and initiative, and you will always be protected. Is that not the case? 
 
So, even if this administration was sincere, which of course they are not, where would you begin to change that culture? You know where? You would double all salaries. And invest in modern equipment, forensic labs and an effective highway patrol. Probably a trillion baht to start.
 
What about starting with traffic safety? Saving thousands of lives a year? Issuing a DUI? How about pulling people over for reckless driving? The police here are not law enforcement. They are franchisees.

I believe there are some police who got canned for openly supporting the students and protests. They are not aloud to want real honest people in government and a change to the other thing we can't talk about. Prayut and his regime clowns and puppets are just evil.
