Teacher who abused children at Bangkok kindergarten jailed for seven months

 

 

A teacher who was sacked from a private school in Bangkok for beating a kindergarten has been jailed for seven months.

 

At a hearing at Nonthraburi Provincial Court on Mondah, Ornuma Plodprong, 30, known as ‘Kru Jum’ was sentenced to spend 195 days in jail after being found guilty of child abuse and the assault of a minor. She was ordered to spend 15 days in jail for each case of abuse. 

 

Charges were filed against Ornuma after a number of videos, which went viral in September, showed her beating children at Sarasas Witaed Ratchaphruek School.

 

Ornuma, who worked as a classroom assistant, was one of a number of teachers caught on classroom CCTV beating and abusing pupils. 

 

Parents from seven children have filed a lawsuit against the teachers accused of the abuse and the school administration. The parents are demanding at least 5 million baht from each of the accused. A hearing for this case will be held on December 23, INN reported.  

 

An investigation into the abuse was later launched by the Office of the Private Education Commission (Opec).

 

It was found that Ornuma was not a qualified teacher. A Filipino teacher, who was also accused of abuse, was found to be working at the school on a tourist visa and without a work permit.

Good, just what she needed, hopefully her being jailed will send a strong message to other abusive teachers.

That's good, now what about the school,will they face any punishment,or does the

buck not top there.

And I wonder what happened with the full investigation of this school and all schools in this chain.

 

Also would be interesting to get a new comment  (after the unqualified 'teacher' from this school has been jailed) from the arrogant miscreant owner of the chain. 

What about the other teachers? Being Thai, are they above the law?

No doubt she will teach again somewhere

Typical thai mantallity demand money for their children being abused! 7 months is not near enough punishment anyway, she should be locked in a room with the fathers of the children.

 

Her strength against a toddler, a mans strength against her. Sounds more than fair to me!

My mistake. I read the next sentence and put them together. There are stillother teachers involved, whio need to be brought to book. And the boss man too, who no doubt was involved in hiring unqualified  and unlicenced teachers, and "overlooking" work permits!

Some children can be mischievous granted,but these are the charcteristics of a child,because they are just that,a child.

This however does not give an adult carte blanche to exact violence upon a child.

She needs to be given a taste of her own medicine.Public flogging is the order of the day,yes a nice big loss of face and painful exercise.Although two wrongs never make a right,it would surely make her think twice before committing violent acts against a defenceless minor ever again.Shame on her.

Ive lost count to the number of mothers I have seen beating there children with a small branch of a tree here in Thailand and nobody seems to do anything about it I once complained about it and got a simple answer it’s only uneducated people who do this type of punishment if that’s the case then it should be taught in school that hitting anyone is wrong 

For some strange reason, what one reads in the media and what actually happens are 2 completely separate items. What you read is what the media wants you to think, but the reality is what the guilty party can finagle with the authorities, usually much less severe ????

Someone's dad should go into the class and ragdoll her from wall to wall by the hair....

talked to a policeman friend a few weeks ago.  I said, "yea, I saw a few teacher really beat about 100 or more kids (under 10)..."  I told him who and where....and i did tell him it was not that recent and over a span of many months.  

 

my friend asked, "Do you think they still hit them?"  I said, "I don't know, maybe not after this recent news."

 

He said, "yea, probably not."

 

this is the problem.....we need cameras in every room and public areas, and able to be streamed online to parent's phones and computers.

 

no video, no crime.  IMO I think that's the reasoning

Better look at those farang TEACHERS in charge of those EP schools with NO degrees or store bought “divinity degrees” from The USA?? Hehehe 

A wonderful ending would be the parents winning the cases against all the teachers involved and being awarded 5 million baht each, now THAT would certainly send a message to all abusive teachers in the Kingdom!

This is what it is really all about. 

Hopefully, this won't be one of those early release, or commuted scams. Otherwise, kudos to the judiciary for mustering up some courage. 

 

Now, if we could get them to put away her boss. Hopefully, she will make some good "friends" in the slammer, and will learn something. And some other teachers might be intimidated by this. 

Should have jailed her for longer .

Any type of child abuse should carry a minimum of 10 years in jail.

If I were an affected dad, I would have done just that, regardless of the consequences!

A few months ago I witnessed a Thai woman  hitting her daughter multiple times inside of her shop . This was not like your typical quick smack on the bum  that many parents would do, but this woman was hitting her so hard across her body with such aggression. Being a foreigner here  I knew at the time there really wasn't much i could do in terms of getting involved in  such a situation, it could of course ended up getting very ugly, so i just purposely walked into the shop which of course distracted the mother from hitting her daughter. I later called the police to investigate and at least make them aware of what was happening. But of course, the police did not seem very interested...  ????
