Video: Manhandling of patient looked worse than it was, says health director

The director of the Phetchabun health authority has played down a clip that was widely viewed on the internet that showed a male nurse with a 50 year old head injury patient at a CT Scan.

Many online thought it was disgraceful and a case of manhandling a patient.

Dr Chaiwat Thongmai said it was an old clip.

It was from September 14th.

He said it looked worse than it was.

The patient had been sedated but was moving and needed to be subdued for the scan.

The orderly concerned had been disciplined.

He blamed "internal strife" for the clip coming out of the hospital.

Obviously not sufficiently.

Don't feed us BS you moron!  It happened, doesn't matter when or where it was unacceptable behavior plain and simple.  The thug in the hospital should not be there.  Should have been sacked.

The director is a fool, why is he trying to defend an abusive employee?

Looking at the video the man doing the abusing is not a nurse (judging by his clothing) but a nursing assistant.

No way was there any reason to treat the patient roughly like that.

I had  a CT scan, plus many ex rays, being unable to move myself, staff always treated me with care.

I suggest the heath director goes through the same procedure and see if says the same after that.

I'm going through CT skan in a week and certainly don't hope to get some special treatment like that.

Shouldn't have happened PERIOD!

The medical staff in question should've been out on his behind as soon as this came to light. No amount of "explanations" can ever justify that kind of behaviour from people who are supposed to care for patients and act professionally at all times.

If that was your parent and you saw that video you would want to punch his lights out.

Of course he would say that wouldn't he because his hospital will be sued. The nurse has been disciplined for no reason? The obvious conclusion is that the doctor is trying to stop claims being made against the hospital.

The victim isn't my parent, but I still want to punch him nevertheless. And no, I'm not violent by nature, but somethings are just wrong.

Why defend the indefensible?.............

Ah yes!  Dont want to be sued!

A Patient with any kind of head Injury should be handled with the utmost of care to prevent any further Trauma.

This " Nurse " and his Superiors are completely Incompetent and should be removed from their Posts without delay.

Disgusting

Strap him to a table and do the same, I wonder if he'd sit up and say thanks.

Violence is not a cure for violence, but the hospital director in court facing a huge compensation package would hurt more than a bloody nose.

The fact the hospital defends the un-defendable is telling

The fact they deflect by saying the clip was taken in September is telling

The fact he states hit looks worse than it was is telling

Internal strife <deleted> is that is it some medical condition only known to Thai hospitals, scum bag's, the pair of them pure and simple!!

Face and money uber alles!!

Had one done, full abdomen, a couple of years ago. I liked the part were sexy nurse filled my colon with some liquid and put me in one of those big adult nappies. No surcharge whatsoever. I really like Bumrungrad; 300 meters up the soi I would have cost me 3000 Bahts.
