Trump falsely claims victory with votes uncounted, rival Biden confident

At what time did Trump say that he has already won the election and that he is going to ask the Supreme Court to order the vote counting to be stopped? I know it was before midnight Tuesday on the US west cost, but it would be interesting to know the exact time.

Addressing an election party in the East Wing of the White House early Wednesday morning, President Trump falsely and prematurely claimed victory in key swing states and pledged to go to the Supreme Court to stop votes from being counted.

Why it matters: As Axios previously reported, this was not spur of the moment.

  • For weeks, Trump has discussed this scenario with advisers and even gamed out what he would say to declare victory on election night, even if networks had not called the battlegrounds for him, reports Axios' Jonathan Swan.

The state of play: Trump falsely claimed it was "clear" that he had won in North Carolina and Georgia, where the races remain too close to call as of his 2:30 am ET speech.

New York (CNN Business) News anchors forcefully called out President Donald Trump early Wednesday morning after he prematurely declared himself the victor of the 2020 election, despite millions of outstanding ballots left to be counted in several key states.

In brief remarks from the East Room of the White House, Trump attacked the legitimate vote counting efforts, calling it "fraud" with no basis. The President then claimed he "did win" the election, despite the millions of votes that have yet to be counted.

All the major networks carried Trump's address at the start, but NBC News and MSNBC cut into it to note that he was peddling falsehoods.

With millions of votes yet to be counted, President Trump falsely asserted election fraud, pledged to mount a legal challenge to official state results and made a premature claim of victory in a bitterly contested race that may take days to resolve. In remarks at the White House early Wednesday, Trump claimed that he’d won several states that are still counting ballots, including Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.

His Democratic challenger, Joe Biden, insisted earlier that “we believe we’re on track to win this election” and pleaded for patience, citing Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan, where votes were still being tallied. “It ain’t over till every vote is counted,” Biden said.

If it's down to the votes sent by letter, it looks like Biden will sit on the throne for the next 4 years.

Time will tell.

We allready know what Trump will do if he lose.

I wonder if Biden will try and use the same argument, if it turns out Trump will collect most of the votes sent by letter.

Until then it's time to shop some more popcorns.

This comedy show is not over yet.

I think I got it. A Swiss online news site says that Trump started his speech at 08:30 CET, which is 02:30 EST (Washington DC) and 22:30 in Alaska.

Yes, that matches what the Swiss paper has.

(I don't care who wins, just wanted to get the timeline right in the context of the legal interpretation of one of the candidates regarding the legalities of the election process)

Trump will win the election.  He will win it fair and square.

Maybe you are right, but claiming he will win it fair and square is a long stretch, with the Republicans trying to trash all kinds of votes. Strange the Democrats aren't trying to eliminate a single vote.

In your blind allegiance, perhaps you don't realize if Trump wins, America is headed for civil war.

Whoever wins is not really the issue, it just means that the supporters of the losing candidate can use that as an excuse to go on another rioting and  looting spree. ????????????????

Biden and Trump are both liars. They're both corrupt. They're both going to put the country in unrecoverable debt. They're both letting the corrupt families have too much power. Trump was fake tough with China. Biden is owned by China. I didn't vote. I wanted Elizabeth Warren.
