Climate activist Thunberg hits back at Trump over anger management taunt

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg hit back at Donald Trump on Twitter late on Thursday saying the U.S. president should "chill" about the election, a riposte to his tweet last year mocking the teenager over what he called her anger management issues.

Commenting on Trump tweeting "STOP THE COUNT!" on Thursday, as the election race in the United States went to the wire, 17-year-old Thunberg tweeted: "So ridiculous. Donald must work on his Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Donald, Chill!"

The tweet has been liked 1.2 million times so far and re-tweeted 266,000 times.

Trump took to Twitter in December last year after Thunberg was named Time's Person of the Year for 2019, mocking the 17-year-old in exactly the same manner for her impassioned pleas to governments to act to stop global warming.

"So ridiculous. Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!" Trump wrote, commenting on a tweet from another person congratulating Thunberg on the Time prize.

Thunberg responded at the time by updating her Twitter biography to include: "A teenager working on her anger management problem. Currently chilling and watching a good old-fashioned movie with a friend."

With his re-election chances fading as more votes are counted in a handful of battleground states, U.S. President Donald Trump launched an extraordinary assault on the country's democratic process from the White House on Thursday, falsely claiming the election was being "stolen" from him.

Kind Hearts and Coronets, 1949: "Revenge is a dish which people of taste prefer to eat cold."
The Godfather, 1969: Don Corleone nodded. "Revenge is a dish that tastes best when it is cold," he said.
Star Trek II, The Wrath of Kahn, 1982: Kirk, old friend, do you know the Klingon proverb, "Revenge is a dish best served cold"?

It's not what she said that you read ...'it's what she repeated back to him that he originally said about her from his country  while she was  in her country when she heard about it.....

She took it in stride and did not get upset about what some guy from another country said.

I hope  I said that correctly.

Because he's so famously indifferent when criticized by public figures? The Trump you are referring to must be the one from opposite world.

Do you understand that her previous criticism of this planet's Trunp incited him to insult her? Don't have much use for facts, do you?

Personally, I see her as just another loud mouth, entitled female,  who was never put over her father's knee.

I would be proud if she were my daughter.

If folk really care about the environment then they should turn off the heating and A/C, ride bikes and stop buying stuff wrapped in way too much plastic to make it look nice for starters.

Then they can complain about the unemployment knock-on......????

Respect is something that has to be earned, not something that can be demanded as a matter of course.

I respected many of my teachers , one I despised as a closet pedophile. Are you saying I should have respected that person because I was a child?

If you are a climate denialist, just say so, and stop beating around the bush.

We should stop he count right now. If so, Biden would win in a landslide. Trump is behind in PA, GA, NV, and AZ!!!! Yes, let's stop the count!

this entitled label is mostly used when people want something in a selfish way. I wouldn't describe her calls for a healthy future for mankind and the planet 'entitled'

Notice how car720 characterized Thunberg "as just another loud mouth, entitled female". He didn't use "person" or "teenager' or "kid". To car720 the salient point was that she is "female". I think somebody has a problem with women.

Thunberg has Asperger's syndrome. That is not necessarily a bad thing.

If one checks out the positive aspects of an Asperger's, they have quite a few. Mozart, Sir Isaac Newton and Andy Warhol are famous examples.

OTOH, Trump ticks nearly all the boxes of a high-functioning sociopath. Gacy, Bundy and Dahmer are all classed as sociopaths.

When it comes down to it, I know who I would rather listen to.

It's dubious that Mozart had Aspergers. That was just someone's bright idea. Nobody who could write the greatest operas ever composed would have a problem understanding how others feel. And in fact, all these remote judgements about potentially Asperger afflicted people are suspect.

You may be right. The analysis is based on traits observed by others in their time, and may be inaccurate.

Having said that, I would like to see how anyone could argue Trump is NOT a high-functioning sociopath.

Well that's different because we can predict how a malignant narcissist would react in a particular situation and see if Trump's behavior conforms to that prediction.. Repeatedly, it does.

The smart nations are adjusting to climate change with policies that encourage renewable energy. The dumb ones are kicking the can down the road, they will suffer the most because their economies will become pariahs. They won't be prepared for sea level rise either.

COVID-19 is a good example of that. America's response meant the most powerful passport in the world dropped to number 18 in rank.

Thunberg travelled by boat from Europe to the US and back, refused to fly because of the carbon emissions. One can't say her actions and beliefs are not in sync.

We won't be living in caves, we will be using our resources more intelligently.
