PM to share lessons from Thailand's success in containing Covid-19 with Paris forum

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha said on Friday that he would share the lessons Thailand had learned from its success in containing Covid-19 at the third Paris Peace Forum, which will be held on November 12 via online video conferencing.

In his statement, Prayut said, “The third edition of Paris Peace Forum is an important opportunity where I join other leaders, international organisations and civil society, in a brainstorming session to draw lessons learned and bring about resilient and sustainable solutions in the post-Covid world.

“Like every other country, Thailand has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, we successfully controlled the situation with the number of infected persons in only four digits and the number of the deceased less than 60. I would thus like to speak on:

“1. People centrality is the major pillar to handle this challenge as well as to create a new normal consistent with Sustainable Development Goals to be achieved by 2030, leaving no one behind.

“2. Effective medical system, strong public health sector, and competent healthcare professionals are the important contributing factors to Thailand’s success, in particular the support given by over one million health volunteers stationed in villages throughout the country to ensure the accessibility to public health of all people.”

The forum “Reflection on the principles and the priorities of the post-Covid world” will be held on November 12 from 2pm-3.30pm (8pm-9.30pm Thailand time). Interested persons can register to participate in the forum at https://parispeaceforum.org/become-a/

Luckily, and as the forum will take place in the EU, delegates are going to be able to browse Pornhub to pass their time while he is delivering his mind-numbing speech.

Short speach, we lied about the numbers by not counting those that died of unknown respiratory illnesses.

Maybe he can also talk about Thailand's outstanding record in road safety and air pollution control too ....

Does the good general even understand what he himsef 'said'?

Those countries that dealt with the virus most successfully were run by women.   The Thai PM has trouble relating to the country's future.  The WHO is truly a misguided organisation for choosing a tinpot.  The WHO was warned about the virus by the Taiwanese and failed to act.

Try telling the French or their neighbours they can't buy vino or beer to drink at home....????

Sacre bleu Hastings...????

I would prefer to see an open question and answer session rather than a speech

It's not 'less than 60' It is 60 now.

Hahahahaha. OMG. Anutin competent? hahahahaha. The best thing he could do is show Paris how to get out with his regime and have Thailand really feel the peace and take control of their life and destiny.

Readers are invited to translate this gibberish into simple understandable text in a language of your choice leaving no one behind.

Can't possibly expect them to be as forthright as that .. saying it like it is , is not a fundamental characteristic embedded within the national psyche ..

He should lecture the countries of the world on the benefits of high temperature and high humidity tropical weather.

That's the only reason why it remained under control in Thailand.

He can learn the two words needed in French to look even more impressive... what is "don't test" in French?

So what's happening next door in Myanmar and Malaysia if it's down to temperature and humidity?

Agreed plus they don't shake hands as we do and Thai's tend to mask up more readily when then are ill. All of these factors have combined to help keep the infection number so low.

He will be wasting his time. They won’t listen.

It is actually very simple, listen to the medical experts, not wacko politicians and nut jobs. Wear a mask, social distance, wash your hands.

Thailand got it right and virtually eliminated it in about a month in April. It took a bit longer for Melbourne to catch on, but it looks like they have just had success by listening to medical advice doing exactly what the Thais did. Both Anutin and Dan Andrews copped heaps of flak from idiots, but held their ground and beat it.

Things are too far gone in the America’s and Europe now, plus you have a large proportion of the population who are selfish and in complete denial and won’t be told anything. Me, me, me.

Record infections and deaths today. It will be 10,000 deaths per day by next week and heading for 20,000 by January. The situation is getting worse, a lot worse, by the day as correctly predicted.

It is sad for the countries who are doing the right thing. It all would be over by now if they had of followed Thailand’s lead and listened to scientists and doctors. They are getting dragged down economically because of the selfish and inept countries who come up with nothing but denial and pathetic excuses.

Anyone for some bleach?

Couldn't agree more will you. I'm sure they were the same idiots that unfortunately were suffering financially from the lockdown plus the younger generation who couldn't party on thinking they were immune.

Just as he remarked a couple of days ago "...until somebody greater, better, and more honest comes along."

You mean like Myanmar with exactly the same climate? Or Malaysia?

Yes, that's exactly what I mean along with Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos - the area they call 'Mainland Southeast Asia' / Indochina.

They've had a tiny number of deaths compared to Europe.

Case detection numbers are irrelevant as they're unknown and therefore can't be measured but you can count the deaths.

Yes, indeed. They were dying before it was a 'thing'

'PM to share lessons'. No1, don't test. No2, goto #1.

'I join other leaders' lol

Can't believe people are still simple enough to be comparing countries. Oz is Oz, a desert in middle of ocean, pure luck. US/Europe global and densely populated get hit whatever measures are taken. Germany did things right and are suffering. Thailand hit with strange respiratory illness prior to all this but its authoritarian regime touts superlative figures. Wakey wakey.

No testing equals NO COVID19 That's the trick with this virus.

If, nobody gave it a name, it would NEVER have been noticed!!!
