WHO picks Thailand among 4 countries as example of effective Covid-19 handling

Anutin Charnvirakul

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has picked Thailand among four countries who have demonstrated efficient management of the Covid-19 outbreak to share their experiences and policies with other countries via video conference, Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said on Friday.

“Thailand, Indonesia, South Africa and Uzbekistan were selected by WHO as countries that had successfully handled the Covid-19 situation using public health measures such as aggressive testing, contact tracing, patient investigation and intensive quarantine,” he said.

“In the case of Thailand, we also have received positive cooperation from the public in following public health measures. This resulted in Thailand having a relatively low number of domestic cases, while most of the infections have come from overseas.”

Anutin added that Thailand has been strictly following WHO’s Guidance for Conducting a Country Covid-19 Intra-Action Review (IAR), which was developed to guide countries to conduct periodic review of their national and subnational Covid-19 response, so countries do not miss critical opportunities for learning and improvement to better respond to the Covid-19 outbreak in their countries.

“The IAR that we performed on July 20-24 revealed that Thailand’s success in handling Covid-19 derived from the government’s decisive policies based on a strong public health foundation, as well as cooperation from all sectors that helped minimise the spread of Covid-19 in Thailand,” said Anutin.

Hang about, South Africa's a Covid disaster zone with some of the longest and strictest lockdowns anywhere yet it still has had 3/4 million cases and over 20,000 recorded deaths. What on earth is successful about that, the country is a lesson in how not to handle the virus. Indonesia, like the Philippines, has nothing to boast about either. If these are the best examples the WHO can come up with of countries "successfully handling" the situation, then matters must be far worse than I thought.

using public health measures such as aggressive testing

Thailand now sits at number 165 on the list of countries with there testing. Almost at the bottom.

And Vietnam

WHO does not care that it lies regarding Thailand’s number of tests.

It cares to pass the “new normal” narrative using these specific words: aggressive testing, contact tracing, patient investigation and intensive quarantine

After a full year of intensive propaganda, the “new normal” will finally feel like “normal”.. or so they think!

It's ok,they we reading the list upside down!

I don't know why Indonesia is included in the list, it's one of the worse controlled countries in East Asia.

I would think Vietnam and Taiwan ranks much better with its low virus numbers.

I wouldn't be surprised if Anutin picked the countries himself.

Where's VIETNAM on the damn list?..........................., they have done better than anybody!, even Cambodia seems to be faring well if you listen to their glorious leader, Hun Sen.

Where is Taiwan?

Indonesia has-not been effective at all. Cambodia stopped flights from there.

Who Thailand showing good mask compliance in the photo ????????????

Anutin added that Thailand has been strictly following WHO’s Guidance

Now! you can call me a sceptic if you wish, but was it not the President of W.H.O. that said the way to control the virus was to, TEST, TEST and TEST again, so Thailand have been secretly testing people for the virus since the start of the pandemic. ( No TEST No HAVE )

????????????

Ignoring the WHO report, and all your conspiracy theories, I’m very glad to be riding out a global pandemic in a country where it’s safe to go outside and mix with people. When I see Europe and the US I see how lucky we all are to be here.

  • Popular Post

Indonesia? They or he have gotta be joking. A complete disaster zone, ineffective government (dilatory, unable to enforce social separation & little or no testing).

Sounds like Anutin disinformation to me.

That's wonderful news  from The WHO an organisation you can really trust ??????

Great   work  many  post,s  see through the  dribble

Countries in that   4 ...  3  are still  in  many parts in lock down

The WHO is deep in the pockets of China. Just ridiculous. My fiance is from Java. Totally chaos... minimal social distancing, or mask use. Minimal enforcement. Family member (by marriage) died of some unnamed lung problem a few weeks ago and was buried by guys in hazmat suits (I saw the pics). They bury people quickly there, with the minimum of fuss and without always clarifying the cause of death. I don't believe a word of this report
