Popular Post rooster59 Posted November 7, 2020 Popular Post Posted November 7, 2020 Pattaya's Bali Hai mess: City Hall say they'll repair it themselves and bill the original contractors Image: Sophon Cable TV Sophon Cable TV continued to report on the mess that is the port of rejuvenated and refurbished port of Bali Hai in south Pattaya. They said that the National Council for Peace and Order (the military government under Prayut Chan-ocha) had called for order in the area, land reclamation, landscaping and the creation of a tourism "landmark" in 2017. City hall threw 95 million at the project - 13 million at improvements to the terminal building and 81 million to the rest of the area (the one million baht discrepancy was not explained in Sophon's report on Facebook). In very little time the whole area has turned into a completely unusable mess that is not fit for purpose. Walkways have gaping holes and the famous dancing fountains don't even work. Now Kiatsak Sriwonchai from City Hall said that work to improve bus parking and access is either finished or in progress. Civil engineers have also hit on the idea of using reinforced concrete. Experts are being brought in to sort out the fountain. The plan to do all this was decided in August and that was within the insurance period agreed with the previous contractors. They have to put it right. If they can't then city hall will do all the work themselves then give them the bill. scubascuba3 Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 Just remove all the broken wood walkway and replace with concrete, keep it simple so they don't screw it up 1
spidermike007 Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 As usual, oversight by an experience CPA, with a background in construction, and completely independent politically. As if. 1 1

Yes, bus parking absolutely needs to be Pattaya's number one priority....you can't have a premier, world-class holiday destination without lots of buses. 1 7

Popular Post Natai Beach Posted November 7, 2020 Popular Post Posted November 7, 2020 The whole thing was a rushed bodgy job ordered by Prayut to show off for the ASEAN 50th anniversary. He took it very seriously, the hooker bars were all ordered to be discreet, they actually cleaned up a few sois and cleaned out and fixed a lot of drains using prisoners. And removed all the boats and businesses that had previously used the Bali Hai area. They spent months and millions preparing for it. It was still before the “election” so Prayut was trying to get some international cred. It was his big day. On the day of the big parade, a mid sized storm hit Pattaya for about half an hour. It had cleared before the parade, but the run off from the dark side made its way down, the rubbish re blocked the drains and it flooded beach road at just the wrong time. Some countries refused to let their seamen march in the filthy, semen contaminated water that was cumming out of the hundreds of short time rooms in the area and other places. Others did and marched through the cesspit in their parade uniforms. It didn’t rain on Prayuts big parade, but it was good enough. It was very funny. 1 6

Henryford Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 I thought the area was designed to fall apart so it would match the decaying skyscraper in the background. 2

I bet on it that it will be finished within the next years - whatever it takes. Look at the Walking Street. So many buildings should not be there. But they are there and have been used for doing business as long as I can remember.

redwood1 Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 Prayut Chan-ocha) had called for order in the area, land reclamation, landscaping and the creation of a tourism "landmark" in 2017. The Big Blue parking lot we were told was going to be turned into a world class Park----------You know the kind with trees grass shrubs flowers.......And all we got was a flat BLUE turd of a un-used useless parking lot....
