Tips at airport before leaving

Featured Replies

Hello to everyone,

I will leave next week for Italy, I'm wondering if there's any tip to follow to get smooth process. For example if go to check-in 3 hours before is ok, do I need any document or form to be filled, Covid test is required? etc.

Thanks to all

Italy doesn't require Covid test, about airline i will enquire them directly by email, i just wanna know if there's anyone has traveled from BKK  airport recently and can share his experiences.

I turned up at the airport on 01 November at 10.30 for a flight at 13.10. I was through immigration within 8 minutes. Not many people and no queues.

Hi, I’m in France and before travelling to Italy (3/weeks ago ) they asked for a Covid PCR test within 72 hrs of traveling. Maybe not for Thailand, personally, I’d rather do one to be sure you are not refused at the last minute, and also for peace of mind.

If you tell us your nationality, passport you'll be using, purpose of visit and airline (with routing) you'll get more informed responses.  It's pretty certain you'll be asked for a self declaration form at check in.

We are 2 Passengers, Italian and Thai, we travel from BKK to Milan with Qatar airways via Doha. I'm traveling with my girlfriend after 1 year and 2 month in Thailand, with family/friend/turist visa.

You can see the requirements and find a link to the form here:

I think the form is the only thing you need to prepare in advance, plus of course the appropriate visa for your girlfriend.

He's leaving in a week. If she hasn't got a visa by now they might be pushing it. I don't know about Italy, but a visa for a Thai girl can be hard to obtain in some countries.

Qatar? Sorry to hear that. Left through Swampy two weeks ago and noticed many cancellations of QR flights, hope yours does not get cancelled.

The airport was deserted. Only one IO at the desk. I was the only customer. Same at security, three ladies but I was the only one in sec check. In the lounge (Mirage) there was only one other customer besides me. No queues. The plane had 30 / 300 passengers. Wonderful flight.

Coming back again in two weeks, getting my second round of ASQ. This time a lot of free ASQ rooms it seems. No need to book the crappy hotel I did last time. But changed my flight from QR to Lufthansa because the former keeps cancelling flights, the latter not.

Qatar Airways will almost certainly require a PCR test to board the flight. Even if you have no intention of entering the country and are merely transiting the airport.

If you want to avoid the PCR test requirement, you'll need to fly direct to Europe.

Now I'm able to give some fresh news,  from Bangkok nothing is required to board a Qatar Airways flight to Milan via Doha, everything is as usual, need only wear a mask and protection onboard. Very few people in Bangkok airport and also in the plane.  Doha airport has more people but faraway from normal time.

Qatar removed that requirement from passengers departing from Thailand a couple of weeks ago.

I am leaving Thailand with Qatar Airways transiting in Doha then onwards to London uk, where did you guys read that Qatar Airways dont require a Covid PCR test certificate when checking in at the airport? please reply thank you

I think i am just confused, I will try call Qatar to double check what is required, there website says only mandatory for certain countries, but then after clicking the link and typing in BKK - LHR, It says In case that Qatar Airways or government regulation requires you to present a negative COVID-19 test result on departure and/or arrival, Qatar Airways will verify this information at check-in and retain a copy of the test result.
