Ned to Xray not just the shoulder but also the cervical spine

Extremely unlikely to be a fracture and even if there is some arthritis visible it will not necessarily be the whole story. Xray won't be sufficient to look for other issues such as rotator cuff issues. Unless the film suggests cervical stenosis,  my earlier recommendation to consult Dr. Mason remains.

That's reasonable.

Would you happen to know a good doctor in Khon Kaen?

So I will book an appointment with an orthopedic doctor and wait to see if they suggest an x-ray or not.

These doctors are not only bone, is that right?

An orthopedic doctor is a bone specialist.

The best ones in Khon Kaen will be at Srinagarind (KKU Univ Hospital). If you prefer to go to a private hospital some also have hours there, suggest

If a rotator cuff injury is suspected based on physical exam he may recommend an MRI.

Thanks, I think I'll go to him this week.

I went to a fancy hospital the other day. I got a steroid injection which has helped.

1600 b which was OK as I never had to wait. However, the doctor was very unprofessional. He was only about 25 and said that it wasn't arthritis, as that happens in the lower body first, which I think is BS, but I'm not a doctor.

Another thing that makes me not want to go back there, the guy wouldn't look me in the eye, it was very uncomfortable and unprofessional. I nearly told him so. I might still complain to the hospital.

What you think is BS is BS. Mine started in the hands which by my definition is not lower body (if I was a monkey with knuckles dragging on the ground maybe correct).

I would not worry about complaining, your experience is not unique, have yet to find a truly professional one. Even in a big eye hospitals in Bangkok one of their top surgeons insisted on answering my questions in Thai to my wife.

I had a terrible experience in Bamrungrad. where my daughter was born. This was years ago and my wife couldn't speak English, yet the doctor insisted on speaking English, it's an ego thing.

Money centric arrogant pig were my words to describe the surgeon. It took some time for the wife to understand what arrogant means (even though she lives with me).

Yeah, I've had minor knuckle pains in cold weather since my 40's. Put it down to driving a m/c in the snow and ice when I was young.

Mostly went away when I moved to Thailand, but just bothers me a little now at age 65 on the coldest days.

It is either arthritis or finger lock on the middle finger of my left hand which is started to give me pain in the last 3 weeks or so. I can clench my right hand easily but when I try the same with my left hand the middle finger just won't curl in properly.

Both my kneecaps are S2S with arthritis so it may be that which is my problem.

I am finding it awkward to stick my fork into meat when I cut it though the fork is in a different position and OK when I eat.

i repeat my original advice to see Dr. Mason in Bangkok.

Steroid injections can in some cases be harmful even if they temporarily relieve the pain. You need a proper diagnosis.

Happy to report my shoulder is pain free after exercises and steroid injection. I feel a bit weak there but going to play golf soon, and maybe even tennis.

That is so annoying.

My shoulder paid has gone for a few months now.

Just the other day, I did feel a little pain come back but went after a day.

I wonder now if it will last and how long a steroid does last.

Does anyone have any experience of steroid injections?

It is quite variable and depends on the underlying diagnosis.

From your posts, it is nto clear that a proper diagnosis was ever made?

None at all as I'm deeply suspicious of steroids.

2 baby aspirin and some cannabis every evening sorts out the pain from my finger joints.

Usually the pain is gone when the weather gets a bit dryer, the high humidity of monsoon definitely makes it worse.

2 or 3 times a week I add a couple of table spoons full of Olive Oil to my food done it for a while seems to have done the trick
