khunPer Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 Black Club in Chaweng's nightlife area has burned, probably burned out, in the evening on December 2nd. The fire should have been caused by a gas explosion – from unofficial source, guard from neighboring Central Festival – it happened before 10 pm, as we got a phone call from the CF-guard just before 10 pm, so before the opening hours for the indoor club. I saw lots of Black-staff outside, so hopefully no one is hurt, but one ambulance backed up to the entrance, onlookers were moved away by police, and the ambulance drove away little after. Seems like the bars right underneath Black Club's second floor also got some damage. The were numerous fire brigade trucks, including from Samui Airport, and numerous firehoses in use. Looking at the outside metal-walls' paint, it looks like there has been high temperatur inside. Some photos: View from the parking area... Soi Black view from Green Mango-area... More firehoses are connected... Pump truck from Samui International Airport... Crowd outside Black Club by the entrance way from the parking area... Black Club staff waiting outside... Smoke is still coming up from roof at 10:51 pm... Looks like there has been a high temperature behind the outside metal panels (I'm no expert, so I might be wrong)... 1
khunPer Posted December 2, 2020 Author Posted December 2, 2020 Fotos from Samui Update news, also stating that there is one injured person inside – I heard from other, unofficial source that one person is dead... Link to source HERE. 1

As if the local entertainment sector didn't have enough problems already. 1

Very sad. As if the local entertainment sector didn't have enough problems already. I've heard that of the partners – there should be two owners – died inside from the smoke. I've heard today that two people perished in the fire, based on some Facebook posts, might be local news sources. It also said that the fire was caused by electric failure. It started on the ground and worked it's way up. The roof area was heavily burning in the photos from News Update. The talk from neighboring Central Festival guards about explosion – they got so much smoke in there that they were afraid Central Festival was burning – could have been caused by smoke explosion; my speculation of course, but I often hear fire brigade people talk about that danger. Google says... Quote What causes a smoke explosion? This phenomenon is known as a smoke explosion. A smoke explosion can occur when a fire starts in a closed compartment where the only ventilation is from the leakage through the compartment boundaries. The fire develops into a smouldering state and produces large quantities of excess pyrolyzates and carbon monoxide. 1
Popular Post Crossy Posted December 4, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 4, 2020 A post in bad taste has been removed. We have one, possibly two dead, a little respect is due. 2 1 "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
Nanaplaza666 Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 I hope the fire wasn't started by jealous opponents of other places that closed down and have had big losses . R.I.P to the people that died . Don't know how many , but should have been none . ???? 1
RickG16 Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Sad news, did the fire spread to the sports bar next door? If it is still there.

I owe you a reply to this one. Both the International Sport Bar next to Black entrance and neighboring Gery's Angels, which recently moved in from the other side of road, are closed. There seem to be no power in the building, and there might also be some water damage. The light at the Black's entrance comes from spotlights powered by cable from neighbor, lights probably for security, Photos from Saturday night... 1

Used to catch the odd game of football there when on Samui. 1
