Ok, why make a USB to HDMI adapter if it won't work?

Some do work, but why use one if you already have an HDMI output (unless you want to use even more screens). The GF has a business laptop that has 1 hdmi output and and usb I connect them to two HDMI monitors and it works. So it should work. But right now your best shot is just an other HDMI cable.

Problem might be that your VGA card is to bad for your TV. (TV might be 1080P and old laptop cant handle it) just a thing that might happen. Newer ones should not have a problem

Also upgrading windows wont work.

Because the cable and connection properties matter. USB 1.0 & 2.0 are old formats that don't support HDMI transfer. USB 3.0 (you can tell if it's a USB 3.0 port by checking the color inside - it should have a blue bit at the top) does transfer HDMI. Your laptop does not support USB 3.0.

A lot of comments on the computer settings, but what about the TV settings?

Can you get to the list on the TV that has:

ATV

AV

PC

HDMI 1

HDMI2

USB

What happens if you select PC?

That option is for those who connect via VGA cable. This laptop does not have a VGA output because it's an ACER 2in1(mini laptop that can convert into a tablet)

I went to our local Advice shop today. They didn't stock the cable and can't order one because there's no stock. So they advertising a cable they don't have in stock and can't be ordered. Bit strange for Advice.

Ordered one from Lazada.

Ok.

I bought a new TV about 6 months ago.  I was surprised to see very few models being produced with a VGA port.

Maybe it's simply a bad HDMI cable.  This happened to me once.  Chased bugs for hours before swapping the HDMI cable and up came the picture.

Previously I bought a HDMI adapter, that went from HDMI to C type. This evidently won't work with my horrible ACER laptop computer. I have to use HDMI to mini HDMI for the ACER. Ordered it by Lazada as no shops near me stock HDMI to mini HDMI. Never buy an ACER computer...well this 2 in one laptop with detachable iPad is.

So you can buy a HDMI to C type connector, but they don't work with the ACER. Also the version of Windows 10 has to be upgraded ($160) to run remote desktop.....laptop cover warped and won't go on the computer....brand new and back to the fix it shop 2 times....touch screen not positive.....acer rant.

Do you have an old phone charger?  They used to use HDMI to Mini before most made the change to C type.

To upgrade to Win 10 Pro, you can buy a digital license for 79 baht. https://s.lazada.co.th/s.Xvx0U

Then you can use wireless screen share if you wanted too (assuming your TV supported that).

Otherwise once you get the microHDMI/HDMI cable, plug in each end, set the TV to HDMI number of the port you selected and then confirm the setup you want by going to Display Options on your Acer. Should work fine once you have the correct cable.

Thanks for the response. I just started another thread about the cable I received now. I'll continue with the new thread. Thanks again.

You could have used one of these.

I have an old Acer Travelmate.  Didn't that machine see some use and some punishment, and it's still going.   Use it as a media player now.  I have no problem with Acer.

I have never liked convertible and touch screen machines, no matter what brand.

Maybe I'm missing something, but you machine has a mini HDMI port to connect the small screen to a larger screen, but you are trying to use the Type C USB port for the same purpose.

Not sure who said a Windows 10 upgrade is $160.  You can buy Windows 10 Pro licenses online for just a few dollars.
