Just a bit of info for all those who always DIY if you are in need of a new awning fabric.

Went onto Lazada website link above and ordered via chat a made to measure awning 3.4mt  x 2.4mt just the fabric in the colour you want, didn't use the rollers they provide seemed too flimsy but the rope was OK  the rest I made from anything available.

Cost for the Fabric inc delivery 1700 baht don't know if this is a good price but saved time going from place to place

Looks good.  So what did you do for the rollers?  IE: what was "anything available"?

Cheers.

from the second picture it looks like it could be the blue pvc water pipe?

FWIW if you get the correct size PVC pipe you can fit a black iron pipe perfectly inside this gives weight and dimensional strength to the PVC and is a neat job.

Anyone have a link to instructions on how to se-string them?

Roll it to the top by hand put two turns on the pipe push the end of the rope through the hole at the end of the pipe make a knot push this in the pipe. do this at both ends, then lower the awning down this will give you the correct amount of turns

I had a spare length of thick aluminium profile so that got forced into the blue pipe

Thanks, I'll have to give it a try. The rope on mine is shot...

Another way to do it,  if you don’t want the pvc to extend out the awning  , is like this :

anchor the rope behind the rolled up awning  in 2 or 3 places ( I used 3 but have since reduced it to 2 ) round the awning to a pulley anchored on the other side of the tarp.

Then take the ropes back to your tie off .

I did it this way so I could fit another drop down awning next to this one tied off at the other end ( will get round to the second one anytime now ????).

So the ropes are in front of the awning?

In front and behind also, anchored behind at the top so when you pull up or down on the ropes it rolls , or releases, the awning around the pvc .

Maybe not as aesthetically pleasing as the other method but just an option.

I drop mine down for about 2 1/2 hours a day when the sun starts to shine into the lounge area.
