90 Day Address Reporting

Featured Replies

I am suppose to report my address on May 19. I am leaving Thailand on May 24. I read that there is a 14 day window to report (7 days before or 7 days after). Do I need to report my address?

Hqs in Bangkok says there is a plus-minus 7 day window but some regional offices seem to take exception to that rule and have threatened to fine people who are late (but not sure that they have in fact done so). I do not believe you would have a later problem by not reporting if you are sure to leave on the 24th as your return will start a new 90 day period and believe they will be only looking at that.

Does this address reporting need to be accompanied on the first, or any other, occasion (eg upon a change of address) by any form of PROOF of address?

This is not a hypothetical question for me because my first extension of 'o' visa is hopefully to be applied for this week; and I live in a rental arrangement without only an oral rental agreement. Nor are the utility bills are not in my name.

I know of several people who don't bother making the 90 day reports. They just go in once a year and renew their retirement visas. No one says "boo". (They are more interested in your bank records and letter from the bank)

The key I gather is never to start making the reports. Then if asked you feign ignorance. It's hardly a capitol offense and enforcement seems selective.

The Phuket immigration act like they prefer you don't bother them with it, they are busy enough.

I've been in Thailand since January 22 and got an extension on February 19 so I am suppose to report on May 19. I will leave Thailand on May 24. If I don't report, will I get fined at the airport or the next time I come to Thailand?

If I have to report, then I plan on going to the immigration office by myself.

I'm going to try to have as many things as I can ready before I get there.

What do I have to do at the immigration office?

Fill out TM 47, photocopies of passport, ...

How long does it take?

i just went in with the form filled out and my passport old mate went stamp stamp stamp and away i went took under 5mins ...... im here on a multiple entry non b though with a work permit

here's a cut n past from email HR department sent to me,

The process of notification is simple. Mr.xxxxxx xxxxxx can notify by himself or assign the other person to notify. The Immigration office requires the following documents to be presented as follows:

1. The original passport of Mr. xxxxxx xxxxxx

2. T.M. 47 form (as attached)

At Suan Phlu, I go to the enquiry desk, get a 90 day reporting form, leave the desk, fill out the form (name, address, when last arrived in the Kingdom and maybe a couple of other questions), back to the desk, get a number, go to the right window, sit and wait for number to be called, give them the form and passport, sit and wait for passport to be returned with new piece of paper, leave. Usually takes 5 to 15 minutes (I get there about 9am). No proof of address even been asked for, no photos ever been asked for. However, YMMV.
